Grammas Buttermilk Biscuits

Made these the day we woke to snow and ice on the blossoming trees (!); House was so cold, did not mind heating that oven to requisite 450. These baked up beautifully light, even having added just a sprinkling of shredded cheddar when incorporating the liquid. I can certainly see how it became a cross-generational pride. My only problem now is that I'll have to decide between it and OUR family's (up-to-now) biscuit of choice. Decisions. Decisions.

I made these as well and we loved them! Mine didn't rise for some reason very much but they tasted great so could be the weather (humid)? Next time I might even cut them thicker cause I might have been under and inch. Very light and fluffy though and perfect with jelly!

At most diners yes they are usually made with sausage gravy but you could easily just make it at home without the sausage! I personally love sausage gravy....this is my favorite recipe for it, but just leave out the sausage if you don't care for it. I would melt some bacon grease (or cook some if you don't have any of the grease on hand) in the pan for you to mix the flour into. Here's the link.

Thanks Mommyluv! That recipe looks easy enough! I never realized that its just sausage, flour and milk! I love the bacon idea...I'd probably do that instead of the sausage!
