Wow...the photos just make your mouth water!!! Sounds really good! I never smoked anything on my gas grill...I'll have to try that sometime!

Where do you buy the wood chips for smoking food?

Hello there, Lillian. My grocery store carries wood chips. They have them right by the condiments - ketchup, relish, mustard, etc. Its easy for me! :) Otherwise, I would think a place that carries briquettes would work.

Thanks Frankieanne! I've never seen them by the condiments...I'll have to check Home Depot or maybe a hardware store. I guess I just have to make sure their not chemically treated. I love smoked food!

Suggest a drive out into the country. You should see someone advertising wood for sale. You might get lucky and find some hickory or applewood or mesquite. I'm partial to mesquite. Most of the time it will be oak they're advertising for fireplace wood.

Then there's the old option of buying liquid smoke and modifying the recipe to suit.

Yes, around here there's alot of oak and maplewood...nothing special about those two woods! I'll have to find mequite. I have liquid smoke, but I feel like thats cheating!
