    Recipe: Jiffy Barbecue Chicken

I was looking for a quick, made-from-scratch recipe for baked BBQ chicken. I really hate rating BBQ recipes because I’m so picky when it comes to BBQ sauce! I tend to like sauces made with ketchup and honey so I thought this would work for me. That wasn’t the case. The onions, Worcestershire, and mustard really over powered this. To me, it didn’t taste like BBQ sauce at all. However, I should point out that I tend to dislike what most people love.

The other thing with this recipe was the cook time. The recommended cook time is 1 1/2 hrs. I used blsl chicken breast and checked them at 30 min. They were way over done! Can’t imagine cooking another hour.

Link didn't stick for some reason: Jiffy Barbecue Chicken
That's a lot of worcestershire for my taste, and a whole onion! I can see how it would be overpowering DIZ! Sorry it didn't work out for you and yes 1-1 1/2 hours is too long for chicken breasts. The recipe should state what type of chicken to use for this. Bone in would go longer than boneless, especially for breasts. Even if bone in the time would be too long. Beautiful picture though!!!

Thank you, Mommyluvs2cook! I fixed the link. I was in a big hurry trying to post before bedtime. On the cook time, I knew the chicken breast would be done early, but I made a leg quarter for DH. It was done in 30 min., too. With just the 2 of us, I never cook 3lbs of chicken at one time so I'm trying to imagine how crowded the pan would be. That would affect cook time, but I still think that's too long, especially if you are using wings.

I love Worcestershire but that does look like a lot. I agree about the cooking time, too. Chicken pieces are always done in about an hour for me. Beautiful picture though! It sure looks good!

Sorry the recipe wasn't a winner for you, DIZ3, but your photo is great! Been there, done that and hate the wasted ingredients and time spent for something we didn't enjoy :p

Thank you, Frannieanne & Bakerme. I have a really good DH. He'll eat anything and knows that I like trying new recipes so he'll probably only see it once.

DIZ3, my husband is a good sport about trying new recipes, too. If something doesn't come out to our taste or expectation, he says he'll "destroy the evidence" and eats it, anyway. I'm so lucky!
