I've mentioned this before but my husband LOVES sloppy joe's. But he is all good with the canned stuff (gag) so I do enjoy making it from scratch every once in a while to show him that it can be done homemade and taste delicious :) This was another yummy one for sure! It's been a while since I've made homemade sloppy joe's and my daughter LOVED them, but my little one, who's first time it was having them said they "looked weird and gross" (okay, admit it sloppy joe's are not pretty) and that he was not going to eat it. I made him take a bite and after a few more bites declared, "Mommy, I think I do like this a little". :) Anyway, served up on some pretzel buns, yum!!

Gorgeous photo, Mommyluvs2cook! I never would have thought of pretzel buns (love 'em!), but they look great with the sloppy joe mixture. Homemade sloppy joes are the best and I'm glad your little one decided he liked them! ;)

I haven't had sloppy joes in years and this recipe looks really yummy. LOVE that it has sriracha in it. :) Gorgeous picture Michelle. You're a rock star food photographer. :)

Great Photo! This is making me hungry! I haven't had a sloppy joe in years. Most are so sweet that I don't enjoy them anymore. This recipe looks good. Not a lot of ketchup and I think that's what I dislike about most recipes. Funny you said your youngest wasn't enthused. I always thought sloppy joes were "kids" food because we ate them a lot growing up. I couldn't get my nieces or nephews to eat one and it was for the same reason, they "look weird." Asked around at school and found out that most kids don't like them. Really??

Thank you ladies :) I just happened to have some pretzel buns on hand when I decided to make this, and they went really nicely with the sloppy joe mixture. Didn't use the sriracha for the kids sake, but I know it would have been great in this!

Looks good. Every now and then we get a hankering for sloppy joes. Yes, the canned stuff is just so bland. Thank you for posting. I will try this soon!

Oops, missed you earlier DIZ!! Yeah the minimal amount of ketchup helps with the sweetness and also most sloppy joe recipes I find have brown sugar in them. Lol, I think kids now days are used to hamburger patties, so when they see all that loose meat in between the buns it confuses them. At least my little guy admitted that he liked it finally after a few bites :)

Wow, when I was a kid we loved the Sloppy Joes at school! Maybe they aren't as good as they used to be? Yours looks wonderful, Michelle. I've never thought of adding additional toppings.

I like putting American cheese on my sloppy joes. It's just what we do :)
It is a great pic. Ah, as tastes do change through the years....of course nothing tastes like it used to , for better or for worse. I am sure this recipe will knock our socks off.

Thanks everyone!!! Frankie, as far as toppings, Michael even squirts some yellow mustard on his bun, even though there is some in the recipe and he adds pickles too. He like really tart food apparently lol :) Beshy I was thinking of how cheese would be on this, something I'd have to try to see if we like. I think the kids would for sure :)

Oh and Frankie, in my kiddos school, sloppy joe's are not on the menu ever. Nothing even close, just burgers Their menu is very versatile though with a lot of great things, but burgers is the closest it gets.
