Need help posting a recipe

  • foodprocessor 14 years ago
OK...I can't find anywhere that it says "add a recipe." I have typed this recipe a number of ways, but I cannot seem to get it in a group or on my "my stuff" page. Very frustrating! Help!

If your talking about how too submit your own recipe go to "my stuff" and under your picture there's a large button that says "submit some grub" and that's where you begin your recipe submitting process. If your talking about adding someone elses recipe to a group, it's on the right side of the recipe page, you'll see the word "groups" in purple and under that there will be a scroll down thing that says "add to one of your groups" and in there should be your groups, you might have to go down a little further under the word "groups" to pass up the groups it's already in but I promise it's there! Hope I didn't confuse you more and hope this helped!
P.S. if you aren't finding your answers here try asking it in the suggestions group....they might be of better help over there.

Thank you. I did try that route (submit grub) last night, and I hit "submit," but for some reason it didn't take. I will play around with it more today and just familiarize myself with the entire site. I'll get the hang of it. thankfully, I can multi-obsess, and i am in a knitting group(Ravelry.com), but that's very easy to navigate.

I have also been trying to add friends and it says the name doesn't exist. So, I'll just keep trying. Thanks, again, for your help.

Is there a Questions page? I want to know how to prepare sweet potato fries (for instance) in a way that will make them crispy. Mine are tasty, but soft and mushy. Is there a place to post this type of question?

hey I had the same problem with the sweet potato fries. I bake them not fry them is that how you do them?
as far as the recipe not taking I have heard that happens all the time. This site has a few glitches but it still is a great site. I usually type a little of the recipe and then hit submit & then go back in via the edit button and finish the rest. I haven't had a problem yet and it saves you from being timed out getting the bucko message.

Your own recipes do not show up on your My Stuff page. Newly submitted recipes by your friends on the site automatically show up there, and yours show up on their page. To get friends, you have to be on their page, and in the upper right corner is a place to send them a freind request. You will be notified in the email account you used when joining the site when you have friend requests and when someonne has accepted yours. Your friends will show up on your main food page as they accept your friend requests.

Sometimes, the groups tab, etc, shows up on the very bottom of the page, but most of the time it is on the right. The drop down will only include groups you are a member of. If you try to add a recipe, and it says it's already in the group, then it's there. It may have been there a while, and not be on the front page. There is a link at the top of the list of recipes within the group, that says Browse All Recipes. That will take you to a list with page numbers that you can click through til you find that recipe.

For actual cooking questions, join the group Tips and Advice. For questions about the site, join Group Recipes Rocks and Suggestions. Unfortunately, there is no FAQ page. But members who have been here a while are happy to help. There are lots of fun groups to join and post recipes to. Most of the groups have a description of what the group is and what recipes to post. For Example, in Our Daily Dinner, we talk about what we are cooking that day, and post only those recipes. In the I Made It group, we post recipes of other members that we have tried, so that others can know how that recipe turned out for us. There are other groups where you might only post Chicken recipes, etc.

Thank you all for your help. I am in both groups you mentioned, "I Made It" and "Our Daily Dinner." I just want to be able to participate. Will go search for the Tips group...
