Pumpkin Beer Quick Bread Recipe From Lv Anderson

    Submitted by Scotdog98

I've always wanted to try Pumpkin Ale just for curiosity sake. It's a stout beer! Worked o.k. in this recipe. I've only tasted a few pumpkin breads over the years so I really can't make a good comparison. This one wasn't very sweet. I think that is in part to the dark beer and I used a fresh pumpkin that had a slight bitter taste to it. DH said he liked it because it wasn't super sweet. Here's my posted review:

"This is perfect if you are looking for something not-so-sweet to go with your morning coffee. It has a crusty outside with a dense, moist crumb texture on the inside and a mild spice. Fresh from the oven, I tasted a hint of beer that I would describe as a fragrant flavor, but that went away as the bread cooled. This was my first experience with Pumpkin Ale. It’s a stout beer which is not in my flavor zone when it comes to beers. However, I believe that’s what gives it a deep, rich flavor. I didn’t add any nuts since the recipe didn’t call for any, but it few chopped walnuts would make a good addition. Thanks Scotdog98 for sharing this recipe."

That is an AMAZING picture DIZ..love it!! This would be great for mornings, as you said it's not too sweet, so we don't get a huge sugar rush at 7 A.M. lol! I think walnuts would be a great addition :)

Thanks, Mommyluvs2cook! I'm starting to get used to the photo program on this site. AR had a great cropping feature that I relied on it 100%. Now I'm having to use the one on my computer and it's like learning all over again.

What a gorgeous picture. I've never heard of Pumpkin Ale. Is that a brand name or does it actually have pumpkin in it?

Hi, Frankieanne! There are many different brewers that make pumpkin ale. I believe it is made with pumpkin, but don't hold me to that. This was my first time trying it and it was a really stout dark beer, much like Guinness.

I was thinking maybe Sierra Nevada would have a pumpkin ale, but couldn't find any on their website...

Well, that is certainly interesting. I guess then if one couldn't find the pumpkin stuff they could use something like Guinness. Thank you for the information!
