    Refried Beans
Tostadas are on the menu for my lunches and/or dinners this coming week. I decided to make my own refried beans for once. I did use the lard. 1/2 pound of dried beans made 3 cups of cooked beans. I cooked mine with half of an onion, two cloves of garlic and two sprigs of oregano as suggested by Serious Eats. No overnight soak and I didn't add salt until the beans were cooked. The beans were done in 1.5 hours.

Great photos! I really like the tostada picture. It makes me hungry! This recipe is the real deal. I took a Mexican cooking class one time and the lady made refried beans. Yep, got to cook those beans in a skillet full of lard.
