Looking for an egg recipe

  • oregongrandma 16 years ago
My grandmother used to make an egg gravy that I loved as a kid. I never got the recipe from her and now she is gone and I've not found another recipe for an egg gravy. Have any of you heard of it?

Here's one I found on a website....since you didn't let me know if you use the sauce for savory or sweet - this can be used over veggies...

    Ingredients
    # 1/3 cup flour
    # 1/4 cup butter or margarine (some use 1/8 cup bacon drippings)
    # 6 dashes salt
    # 2 tablespoons sugar
    # 4 eggs
    # 2 cups milk
    Directions

    1. Melt butter in saucepan over low heat.
    2. Pour in sugar, and stir.
    3. Add about half of the flour and 4 eggs, stir it together.
    4. Pour in 2 cups of milk.
    5. Stirring constantly add salt and remainder of flour slowly.
    6. Stir until it comes to consistency like pudding or as thick as you would like.
    7. Remove from heat.
    8. Most serve this gravy over the top of"swedish rye bread" with bacon on the side for breakfast.

or try this search results - copy and paste entire url... it's a long one! (click three times quickly on line and you will copy the whole thing despite not being able to see the end of the url...lol)

Thank you so much. I remember she served it over toast for dinner when I was very young. I'll try this one too!
