Share and find ideas

I need some fun ideas for things to take for lunch. I'm putting myself on a budget - can't eat out everyday anymore and I'm tired of being disappointed - and want something more than a boring sandwich or leftovers.

I don't think I have very many to share but I sure need help finding some new ideas. My hubby works 12 to 16 hour shifts 4 to 6 days a week and has for 10 years. I am all out of new ideas. I mean it is like bologna or peanut butter sandwiches most days. I know he is tired of it but bless his heart he would never complain. He doesn't have time to leave his line and go warm up food in the microwave (he runs a machine in a carpet mill) and doesn't trust people to not mess with his food if he puts in in the fridge in the break room so it is really hard trying to think of something different for him to take..

What an excellent idea, dancegypsy! I, too, would LOVE to have some new ideas for the old lunch bag...it gets so old to have the same old frozen dinner (yuk), cold sandwich, or boring salad all the time. I will really think hard on what I have done in the past to try to mix things up, and I'll let you know what it is. I will be checking here often to see what's new!!

I'm somewhat relieved to know I'm not the only one stuck in a lunch rut. Now we just need some members who aren't!

I sent this to tcn... I got a a thermos that has 3 compartments for hot foods. It keeps them hot for several hours. Go to their website. It is great for "dinner meals."

I also work in a place where people take food out of your lunch bag. I went to the local craft store, bought some 2" webbing/strap type stuff, just a few inches. I hand sewed it onto the lunchbag with a keyring type ring in place. Got a tiny luggage lock from any store. There you go. A lockable lunch bag.

TRY: One dish meals microwavable and homemade...Make them on Sunday. Have it all week. Make 2 different ones. Switch up.
    Should include
-pasta, rice, or noodles. If not, include a side of bread.
    - meat, chicken, beef, pork
    -veggies
    -sauce

Try new recipes, in season ingredients.

Make enough for a few days, have salad to go with, and make sure you have containers to make it easy.

EX> Stew, Soup, Casserole, in a container. Heat while you start eating the side salad.

If you really want cook the new lunch ideas, let me know. My non- cook ideas may be too "girly food for the male folk. Stuffed tomatoes and such. Easy but not a guy thing.
