Farmer's Market Friday!

  • chuckieb 7 years ago
Good Morning Everyone! Well I very well may need a nap later on today. I woke up just after 5 a.m. and was unable to go back to sleep. I felt totally rested and I was thinking about all the decorating I want to do today and where I was going to put things and I just never went back to sleep. So got out of bed at 7 and here I am. :)

It is our local Farmer's Market Christmas Market today and tomorrow. The last time we'll see the vendors until Easter! Jim and I plan to go later this afternoon and I'm hoping to pick up a couple of little stocking stuffers.

It rained a bit more overnight.

I'm glad you had a safe trip to retrieve Sophia from school Shona. Congrats on Pete passing his test! That's awesome! How was your pizza? :)

Not sure yet about what I want to make for dinner. With all of our snow having melt and the temps to go up to 5C/41F, I'm tempted to BBQ something.

Pic below of the deer eating the pumpkin I chopped up for them yesterday. There were 6 of them out there feasting last night and two are back this morning already. :) Other picture is of the appy and cocktail I made last night. I did end up making that Dill Pickle Martini I mentioned the other night. It was interesting. I'd have it again but it wasn't phenomenal. Maritinis are a bit strong for me. The appy was Trout Croquettes that I made out of the leftover rainbow trout we had for dinner the other night. They were very tasty. They had red pepper, onion, relish, dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce in them. It was a really good way to use up leftover fish!

Wishing everyone a wonderful day and TGIF!

Good Morning Everyone and Happy Friday!

The farmers market sounds like a great thing to do today and I bet you'll find lots of holiday goodies Janet. Uugh on getting up at 5:00 a.m., that's the norm for my DH, he wakes up so early and can't go back to sleep. The deer are beautiful and I bet the pumpkin is a nice treat. Appy and drink looks good too! Martinis are strong.

That's great your DH passed his test Shona!! Congrats! I knew he would.

Will be running errands in a bit. I have someone coming over at 9:00 to look at our patio furniture. I want to sell the stuff we have now and get something more weather resistant when we move. We have a modular cushioned set now, it's very nice, and even though it's "weather" proof it's better suited for here and stays nicer if under cover. After we will go look at a van to rent. The plan now is DH will drive the van up to SC after closing and have it loaded with stuff we will immediately need. He can vacuum, clean, and get everything ready and take up stuff that just isn't going to fit in my small SUV, and too since he'll be there he can take delivery on the appliances. Then he'll come home and after the movers pack us up both of us will drive up to SC. The movers can be there anywhere from 2-5 days after they pack us up. If I'm traveling with pets I need their stuff and at least if DH takes a van up it'll all be there plus more.

Just reading an article about 'Gifts for foodies' that are available at a cookware store here in Ottawa. A Bluetooth enabled pressure cooker. I kid you not. Here's the blurb.

Another cool gadget for the high-tech foodie is the Instant Pot Smart, the world’s first Bluetooth-enabled electric pressure cooker. This pressure cooker is Bluetooth Smart-compliant. This means the Instant Pot’s controls can be controlled via Bluetooth-connected smartphones and tablets, providing chefs with easy-to-use interfaces to monitor and direct cooking progress using graphical interfaces. “The Instant Pot Smart’s functionalities can be upgraded and expanded after purchase,” said Sutcliffe. “It currently comes with a free iOS app, and an Android app is on the way.”

SP Linda! Good Morning! I'm glad my 'norm' is not 5 a.m. Does he nap during the day to compensate or go to bed early? Good luck selling your patio furniture and looking for a van. Sounds like you're getting it all figured out! Are LD and Bella good travellers? :)

    Good morning everyone.
Ouch Janet, that's really early. I think that a nap is in order for sure. Beautiful pic's. I love the sound of your appy.
I've been watching the Instant Pot for years. They were very pricey when they first came on the market. Interesting tidbit for you....the were designed here in Ottawa by engineers.
Anyway, on Black Friday I looked on Amazon and there was a great deal so I emailed daughter, I don't buy thing on the internet, asking how I would go about getting it. Her response was "I highly recommend that you don't buy one" so I guess that I'm getting one for Christmas.
That's a lot of driving Linda but it will be worth it in the end. Great Idea to take the items that you'll need when you arrive. Good luck on the sale of your patio furniture. Our patio furniture has a short life due to the weather, unless everything can be brought inside and we don't have the space.
Not much planned here other than grocery shopping this aft. Gotta run.

Morning! Well, at least you woke up feeling rested Janet, that’s always good! I’m on a really good sleeping schedule right now, up every single day at 5:30a and asleep around 10p. Have fun at the FM and hope you get lot’s of goodies :) Looks like the deer liked the snack! Lol at you and your dill pickle food/drinks :P The croquettes look amazing, I might steal that next time we have leftover fish!

Good luck today Linda, Phew, I’m tired just reading about what you have to do today, sounds like everything is going smoothly though!

Michael had his day off (well half a day awake) and barely had time to get his haircut and do some errands he has been needing to do before we took off to Bri’s recital. He worked 17 days in a row minus the day he went into work for an hour on Thanksgiving then was sent home. Now he’s back at work today. Has off this weekend though!

The recital was cute :) There were lot’s of performances, Briauna was in 2 and the theater kids were involved too, doing little skits in between the dances that were hilarious. A very good show! Afterwards we got burgers.

Have a dentist appt. Today for a check up, not looking forward to it, I hate the dentist :( Do I sound like a little kid? Lol. Tonight we were supposed to be staying in a hotel in Cypress for the tournament tomorrow but we found out our first game doesn’t start until 10:20a so we are just going to drive there in the morning. So tonight we are taking it easy and going to watch Christmas movies and eat popcorn :) The elf is bringing the kids little Christmas trees today for their rooms with tiny ornaments for them to decorate them with. They will love that since they have been wanting their own trees. Chicken thighs and some sort of sides for dinner. Wishing everyone a great day!!

I also find Martini's a bit strong, Janet. Definitely not a drink for me. I am sure you will enjoy your Christmas Craft Market. Love the pic of the deer eating the pumpkins.

Good luck selling your patio furniture, Linda. We bring our's in for the Winter months b/c it will last longer. Sounds like you are getting things all prepared for your move.

Very interesting that the Instant Pot was designed in Ottawa, Bren. Very cool you might be getting one for Christmas. Good luck with your grocery shopping this afternoon.

Poor Michael, Michelle, no wonder the poor guy is tired. Shift work is very hard on one's system. I am glad he will get the weekend off, though! Good luck at the dentist and I am delighted Bri's recital went so well. Enjoy a relaxing evening watching movies and eating popcorn. Probably a better idea to drive to Cypress for the tournament tomorrow, less fuss I would suspect. Cute on the elf bring both os them their own little Christmas tree to decorate.

BIG CONGRATS TO PETE... for passing his exam with flying colours, Shona!

Den will have a rib eye steak and oven fries for dinner tonight and I am making a pot of beef barley soup for me to have with fresh crusty bread.

    Wishing everyone a happy TGIF!

That's very fun you might be getting an Instant Pot for Christmas Bren. I'd never ever heard of such a thing before. Ah...the wonders of modern technology! :) That is neat that they were designed in Ottawa alright. And yes, we have to bring in all of our patio furniture in the winter otherwise it'd get trashed. We do leave the Adirondack chairs out, four of them are wooden and four are that heavy duty re-cycled plastic material. Have fun grocery shopping.

Holy kamoly at waking up at 5:30 every morning Michelle. I've never done that, even when I was working I got up at 6:30. That's nice that Michael gets this weekend off. He very much deserves it. Did you get much of your outdoor decorating done? Good luck at the Dentist. Enjoy your lovely evening and good luck in the tournament tomorrow. Very cute on the mini trees and ornaments.

Well we secured the van for the 27th! So we will load that up with stuff we immediately will need, hard to pack items, pet stuff, etc and DH will drive up for closing on the 28th then unload it. I will reschedule the appliance delivery for the 29th and DH will drive back the 30th. I asked him if he wants me to come along and he said "NO, I don't need someone riding with me who sees green camels and winged cows" ... what does that mean ... it means I'm a horrible passenger on long trips.
Bella and LD travel well enough. Bella will be in a carrier and even though it'll be a long trip she should be fine. LD loves car rides, the hardest part for him is getting him to eat and making sure he drinks enough water.
DH gets up early and because of that he also goes to bed early. Just wish he was on my schedule but then again maybe not as it gives me "peace" time.

Very much coolness on the blue tooth pressure cooker. I hope it's a "surprise" for you Bren on Christmas. Pressure cookers scare me. I'm always afraid they will explode.

Michelle you still have me beat in the "busy" department. Happy to hear DD recital went well. It probably was really cute and they are just beaming with pride. Good luck at the dentist. Have fun watching movies later and eating popcorn.

I would love to take the patio furniture with me Joce but knowing we too will have to bring ours in and too keeping it on an uncovered deck it's just not the right furniture to have. Oh well, right. Hopefully these people will buy it and it'll be one more thing done.

BRRRRRRRRR.......It's flipping cold out there! I'm almost done decorating four planters and an urn. Going to have to go back out in the woods and get more boughs to make the boughs :) for the doors and front gates. It's hard to feel Christmassy when there's no snow and it's cloudy and gloomy. On the other hand, I'm appreciative that there is no snow so I can get this done. :)

Green camels and winged cows eh? That would be an interesting trip. I'd go with you in the car. :) You have a lot of work ahead of you Linda and you've already done a lot. Breathe. :) Pressure cookers scare me too. My Mom used one.

    Good morning.

Janet, and. Bren, I bought an Instant Pot and have not used it yet. There is a Facebook page of people who use theirs and love it, or have questions, or are newbies! Love the deer pix, they are so cute.

Linda, did you sell the house or leaving it unoccupied? I may have missed that post since it is a bit hectic around here. Good luck on the move. Hope the patio furniture sells. I'm sure Bella and LD will travel well.

Busy as usual, I see, Michelle. The recital sounds cool! Good luck on the games!

Joce, I am not a martini fan either. It reminds me of the smell of motor oil....LOL! But Janet's pickle martini is hilarious!

It's a frozen Winter waste land outside today! The sun just started coming out, which means it's bitter cold with the clear skies, but the sun should start melting the hoar frost off the trees. I kept the kids home today, it's just too icy out there for me to drive in. They just went outside to play with Roxy, she just loves the snow! I'm not too sure what dinner is. We have leftover pizza. It wasn't that great as we ordered from town here and not the Greek place in the city- because Pete came home early yesterday.
I just finished ordering some grocery's online, and will do some laundry and putter around the house--maybe start some Christmas baking. :D

Enjoy the last Farmer's Market Janet! The deer look very happy with the feast! :)

Hi Linda, sounds like you have everything planned out well for the move and such. It must be a PIA to go back and forth, but hopefully it will all be over soon and you can both relax. Hoping you get a sale on the house soon, and the patio furniture too :)

Hi Bren! Good luck with shopping today. Lol, good thing you asked DD about the pot before purchasing ;)

Hi Michelle, at least it's just a check up at the dentist, hoping for a perfect check-up! Sophia has a mini tree and loves it. We got it for her a few years ago and I get her a new mini ornament for it every year. It's pink and lights up. Sounds like you have a cozy night planned, enjoy the relaxation time!

Hi Joce, Beef Barley soup sounds perfect. I could so go for a bowl right now for lunch!

    Hi Karen!

    Have a wonderful Friday everyone!

Going to pick up the paper from the vet tomorrow, then go to KMart to buy the stocking stuffers GS drooled over. If Wayne doesn't back out. No idea what to get middle GS since he is flying home for Christmas and a hunting knife would not go over too hot in his luggage..ha ha! So he will get a card with cash in it. Which he likes anyhow. Oldest one....well, he needs household stuff so will have Daughter find suitable Amazon item since she has Amazon Prime. Youngest needs a coat, which we will get before Christmas, and will get the Jammers he needs for practice. After a while they get transparent so they get replaced before that happens. Ha ha. Daughter is easy, she needs an infra red heater and Orschelms has one that has a great track record of longevity. It is also quite expensive. Sigh!

Well let us know what you think of the instant pot when you do use it Karen. It sounds like quite the woman toy! :) What's the difference between Amazon and Amazon Prime? Sounds like you've got your Christmas gift list well thought out.

That's nice you kept the kids home Shona....nice for all three of you. :) Sorry to hear the pizza wasn't wonderful.

I'm pretty much done for the day. I put a garland out on the front deck railing and I finished off the boughs. Just have to go in to the Dollar store and buy some big red bows to finish them off. Will hot glue gun some pinecones and such to them then as well.

Taking a break and have one bin packed with China and am working on the second. I'm starting with the dining room.

The house is not sold Karen but we are not waiting. DH doesn't want to leave the new house empty (I disagree but ...) so I will move there. We both will take the trip up and DH will come back here and live like a squatter with the bare minimal. We can not leave this place abandoned. Too much at stake and too much can go wrong. There would be nobody here watching anything and we can't take the chance of realtors coming and going, not locking up, leaving whatever on, etc.
It'll stink but that's the way it goes.

People came over and liked the furniture and want it BUT they didn't have cash and wanted to write a check (I don't think so, it's a cash only deal, we don't know you) and they don't have a truck to take it. What are they thinking. So they left and are expected to return sometime today with a truck and with cash. Nice people and they look trustworthy but Jeffrey Dahmer looked nice too.

SP Shona! It is our last warm day and iffy weather forecasts, cold setting in next week.

Amazon Prime charges no shipping on anything, Janet, some Amazon items have shipping costs. Since DD is a student she gets it at a better rate. I don't buy enough to warrant signing up for it.

Don't blame you for not leaving the house unwatched, Linda, esp. with realtors coming and going. Ted Buddy was quite pleasant acting also....Ha Ha!

ROFL @ but Jeffrey Dahmer looked nice too. LOLOLOL. It's true! Does sound silly that the people weren't prepared Linda. Hoping they return with cash and truck in hand.

Thanks for the answer on Amazon Prime Karen. I ask because we received a parcel sent from Jim's sister last week by Amazon Prime and I wondered then as well how it differed. Amazon offers free shipping once you purchase a certain amount though right, and they're pretty reasonable about it. If there are items that they charge shipping on I guess I've just never noticed.

The Farmer's Christmas Market was NUTSO! Holy it was busy. Like it was even hard to walk through! All we bought were more cocktail sausage rolls from the English Pie Lady. Always good to have on hand if company drops by during the holidays.

Hello all. Been Christmas busy as it sounds like some here have been too. Had our family tree decorating this past Wednesday. I still have some things yet to do as far as decorating goes, but almost done. Need some big red bows as well so will take care of that this weekend. Gift shopping is almost there. Still have a few to go and really haven't even thought about stocking stuffer things yet! Also have the annual fondue party to organize stuff for.

Yea on Pete passing his test!! Lol on Jeffrey Dahmer looked nice too! Totally understand that.
Tonight's dinner is scallops with a creamy garlicy sauce of sorts over angel hair pasta. Thought about a salad too but that just seems like more work than I'm willing to do tonight, lol. Just the scallops and pasta will be fine. Plus Ben is working a bit later than usual so dinner might be a tad later. Although we are late dinner eaters anyway. Ben is not much of a seafood eater but he does like this so will make sure he's home when it is ready.

Hope all enjoy their evening. Just in case I don't get back........Sleep Sweet.........as always..........

Hey everyone! Left work early. Not much going on and Boss is still away. I'm sure there is stuff to be done but I just don't know how or what it is yet lol.
Took Becca's car to get an inspection sticker and then we did driving practice in it. Drove around the neighborhood for about 40 minutes and then she drove to Target about 7 minutes away. She did good but we didn't have the headlights on lol. The blind leading the blind. We figured them out once we got to our driveway.
Ordered pizza and wings with a coupon just waiting on Frank to come home.
