Monday Morning

    Good Morning Everyone!

Having a cup of my cold-brewed ice coffee and I can hear you all saying "what? ice coffee" ... even though it's 60(f) now it'll soon enough warm up to about 80.

Attached a picture of the goodies I packed and sent to the Veterinarian to thank her for taking the time to write up a response to a question I ask her for the rabbit rescue group's newsletter I'm a volunteer for. I like to send them a little something ... sometimes it's a little more and sometimes a little less and because she is such a pleasure to work with I packed up a nice box of soap stuff. The washcloth is tied up to look like a bunny so I was able to keep with something "bunny". I sent 4 soaps, a lotion bar, a small red Yankee candle (raspberry), a soap saver dish, and the washcloth.

Not much else going on. Our realtor is bringing someone thru around 9:30 a.m. Probably won't go further than that but she is really working it and that we appreciate it.

What's everyone else's day looking like?

Morning Linda! Cold-brewed coffee does make me smile but only because it is -5C/23F in my world. :) I too have a coffee, but a hot one, and am curled up on the couch with a blanket. :) Your goodies for the Vet are beautful! That two toned soap is really pretty! Cute idea to wrap the washcloth like a bunny. Are you going to go grab some breakfast while the Realtor brings someone through the house? Good Luck!

We have to hang out at the house as the Phone repair guy is supposed to show up sometime between 8-12. Once that is rectified we can go run some errands. Need to go to Costco and do some banking.

Think I'll do up a couple of Rainbow trout fillets for dinner. Not sure about sides yet.

    Wishing everyone a lovely day!

It is a quiet morning. Looking forward to a second cup of coffee!

Your thank you package is gorgeous! The two color bath soap turned out so pretty! I would definitely buy one.

We had a hair brained idea -- allow cats the freedom of the house at night. Just for the heck of it, we left the bedroom door open. All was well until about 5:45 AM. I opened one eye and observed Trouble perched on top of a wardrobe staring down at us. A.C. was glaring at Geezer, who was innocently prowling around outside the window. Mel snuggled against me. A quiet Mauser head kept popping up as she explored the bed in her typical scaredy cat manner. It went downhill from there. Tonight they will be confined to the front of the house.

It is about 50F outside, so we probably won't need the wood furnace going. Wayne likes it, I tend to stay a distance away from it due to allergies, but it is definitely toasty warm.

Nothing else going on. I have to choose a recipe for using canned pears and peaches, probably in a quick bread....there are several online. Will freeze them for winter use. Have pear and banana bread in the freezer now.

Wayne is back from taking Fritz outside, so best get moving. A second cup of coffee is just what I need!

Morning!! I love iced coffee Linda, I should be drinking some too, with our warm muggy weather. That is a beautiful little gift package, the soaps are beautiful!

Hi Janet! Hope the repair guy get’s to you soon. I really dislike the four hour time slots. It seem’s when we have somewhere to be they are at the end of the slot, and when we
have nothing going on, they are early.

Good try at letting the kitties roam free Karen, lol.

It’s a nasty, drizzly, windy day today. Hopefully it will bring on some cool weather, I would like to bundle up in some warm clothes one of these days! Going to head to the gym then run some errands. No dinner plans today, we have lot’s of leftovers. Crazy evening ahead of us anyway, so no time to cook dinner even if I wanted to! This is supposed to be Michael’s last night working nights for a while, so we will see. Have a great day everyone!!

No time to wander out Janet. People are there no more than 30 minutes and too DH stays behind to open the house and also to get a look at them. If they look like normal people he steps outside and if they don't look normal or have small children he stays in his office. We been "bitten" in the past and learned things the hard way. We will probably grab something out after they leave because DH will be starving and won't be able to wait for me to put things back and cook.

Your a brave woman Karen to give the kitties run of the house last night. I'm sure though they had a blast prowling around forbidden territories. Lol! 😈

What a lovely gift to give to the vet, Linda! Beautiful packaging and I bet it will be greatly appreciated. Crossing everything that the people put an offer on the house. This realtor is certainly putting more effort into selling your house.

I hope your phone gets fixed today, Janet. Have fun doing errands after that is done.

Do you let the kitties have a run of the house during the day, Karen? I suppose like anything they will get used to it gradually. Lol it brings back memories when I had cats and you would hear things crashing in the middle of the night and you think what the heck was that!

Den took his car in for its regular checkup and oil change on Saturday and while he was waiting for it to be done, the mechanic came and asked to come out into the garage for a minute to see something. Well, low and behold there was this huge squirrel's nest covering the whole top of the engine! He charged a bit extra to remove it and said it could have turned his engine into toast if it was near certain things. Den said he figured it was from the trees at work where he parks as the nest was made out of cedar trees and other evergreens.Weird eh! I need to do some dusting and steam clean the kitchen and bathroom floors today. Lol there is always something to do around the house. We are having pork chops for dinner but I am not sure about the sides yet.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

LOL @ letting the cats have the rein of the house overnight but then regretting it Karen. :) I miss having cats.

I know what you mean Michelle about the four hour time slots for repair people, but I totally remember when Jim and I worked and only had one car so that meant if a repair needed to be done one of us had to take the day off or sometimes Jim could work from home. But it was a PIA. These days, with both of us retired it's waaayyyyy easier and not really an issue. Infact it gives me pleasure to tell the repair people not to worry, that we'll be home all day so it's no big deal. :) He just arrived actually and I can hear him whistling downstairs so that's good. :) Glad to hear Michael can have a reprieve from working nights. Enjoy your day.

I hope the walk through went well and you and your DH got something yummy for breakfast Linda.

Oh goodness on the car having a squirrel's nest on top of the engine Joce! LOLOL. Good thing the mechanic found it. Good luck with your dusting and steam cleaning. I guess your back's all better from shovelling last week?

Jim's taking the screens off the front doors and replacing them with the storm windows. The sun is peeking out a little bit which is lovely to see and good for the soul.

It's turning overcast, breeze is picking up, it's humid, and threatening rain too Michelle but only a few drops so far. I'm hoping it rains ... believe it or not we could use it.

Oh my on a squirrel building a nest in your DH's car Joce. But I guess if I was a squirrel I'd build one there too. It's warm and protected from the elements however I'm sure they are surprised when one minute their home is there and next it's not. LOL! I wonder if any of them ever went for a ride?

4 hour vendor window are the pits Janet. We too always seem to be last and hate waiting around for service. And I see your phone is back up and better yet with no charge! Yea.

After the people walked-thru today we ran out for something to eat and ended up at Bass Pro Shops (big outdoor sporting goods store), they have a pretty good restaurant inside the place. After we ate I remembered I wanted to get a "jerky gun". It's like a cookie press that you push ground meat thru to make jerky then dehydrate it. I make LD dehydrated chicken strips, he gets one or two for breakfast (they are small) but because he is missing teeth now I thought I would grind the chicken and perhaps add some fruit too for more flavor and dehydrate strips of that. It'll be easier for him to chew and I can still use product of my choosing. I don't have a meat grinder and am trying to conclude if I can use my food processor to grind up chicken breast or if I need to buy something. It's well worth the investment considering I don't feed him commercial processed foods. I've been dehydrating chicken strips for him now for over 5 years.
Does anyone know ... can you use a food processor to grind up to ground beef consistency raw meats or poultry??

Good afternoon everyone. I finally have a few minutes to myself.

Oh Linda, I don't think that I could handle 80 degrees at this time of the year. Your gift is just lovely Linda. Such a thoughtful gift. Fingers and toes crossed that the people going through is interested.
I've ground chicken in my mini food processor for burgers so I can't see why it wouldn't work for you.
I hate hanging around for repair people to show up too. Yay!!! to a working phone, it's so important when you live in the country.
Lol at the hair brained idea Karen. We've never had cats as our son is very allergic to them. Peach quick bread sounds really good to me. Please share your recipe if your pleased with it.
I hope that your day went well Michelle and fingers crossed for the last night shift.
Holy cow Joce, a squirrel next on the engine doesn't sound good. Thankfully it's been removed. Very strange. Yum on the pork chops, I've been craving them lately but there are none in the freezer.
That's a hard call to make Linda. Most people here want the house empty when there's a viewing but I know that our neighbours had a few items go missing during a showing.
I am almost caught-up, Yay!! DH and I went to the Bay this afternoon and I found four tops and my Christmas pj's. DH was stunned because I'm not a shopper and seldom by anything for myself. We stopped in and visited MIL on the way home.
Dinner will be chicken perogies, salad and caramelized onions. I'm trying a new method with the onions and will let you know if it works.

You hav our identical weather Michelle. Damp, rainy this morning, windy! Ick! Although we do need the rain so no complaints!

Joce, the cats are forbidden in the bedroom.....too active! Mel would be okay alone, maybe. The have the run of the front part of the house. Went to let them outside and Trouble felt the wind and cold, turned and came back inside. Mel lasted five minutes. A.C. Was out maybe fifteen and wanted inside. LOL on the squirrel nest!

Good your phone is in order again Janet!

Good strategy, Linda. I cringe when watching HGTV shows where the small kids run rampant thru the house while the parents beam at their snooping and realtors ignore them! We hid anything of value and even then one time found the heat turned to 80F in an empty house. Friends of ours listed their house on appointment only and probably stayed in the area. Love Bass Pro. We go often to the one in Springfield! The store is wonderful. Bought their LEM brand grinder in one of the large sizes and it grind venison in a zip!

    Lazy day....Schwanns dinner tonight!

A Bass Pro shop just opened here within the last few months Linda. I keep meaning to go check it out as I'm sure I could find some stocking stuffers for Jim. I've never heard of a jerky gun but it sounds like lots of fun. :) I've never ground up meat in the food processor so am no help to you but something makes me think Michelle maybe did it once? I could be totally wrong.

Good for you on the clothes shopping Bren! A successful trip! Do you buy a new set of Christmas p.j.'s every year? :) I don't think I've ever had a pr. of Christmas p.j.'s. LOL. Hope MIL is getting settled in okay. Your dinner sounds scrumptious!

Had a good trip to town. Bought both bone-in chicken thighs and b/s chicken thighs at Costco. They had a good price on both raspberries and blackberries. Went to Home Depot as Jim is getting pricing on some metal roofing that he's going to use underneath the back deck above our basement walk out. He's trying to prevent melting snow from dripping down through the deck and then flooding the basement. Ran into a fellow we knew there and chatted for over half an hour in the aisle. LOLOL. Grocery store was super busy. Freezing rain is forecast for tomorrow so everyone is out getting supplies so they can hunker down.

A huge owl flew out in front of the car on the way home but thankfully I missed it and then when we pulled into our yard nine deer were wandering around the front lawn and lane way so I had to wait for them to cross. LOLOL. I think they're looking for more pumpkin to be chopped up. If it's not too nasty out tomorrow afternoon I have another four big ones handy to feed them.

I've never heard of Bass Pro shop so I googled it and they have some great things.
Yes, I usually get a new pair for Christmas, I don't always find ones that I like though. I usually get a book that I wrap for myself too, funny rituals I know.
I love hardware stores and once lived around the corner from Home Hardware that is on Wellington. I spent some quality time there, lol.
Sounds like you got some great deals, good for you. Isn't it great running into someone that you haven't seen for a while!
I love hearing about the wildlife that you see. LOL on the deer wanting pumpkin.

Janet you'd find more than a few stocking stuffers at Bass Pro ... I could wander around for hours looking at stuff but then again when I have the time I like to wander and look. I've bought some great things there and what's nice is that they are things you don't find in other places. In addition to the jerky-gun thing I also bought three pair of Woolrich socks that are so thick and fluffy but light I could wear them around the house instead of slippers. I'm anticipating cooler weather once we move! and will be so happy to say goodbye to 80(f) temps in winter Bren.

That's great you got yourself some new items Bren! A girl needs and deserves new things. What do the new Christmas PJs look 👀 like?

There hasn't been any negative feedback Karen when DH stays here to open the door for anyone coming thru. Once they are in he excuses himself and goes outside. So far people have been normal. The people today were actually happy he was here because they had some questions that were able to be answered.
When we sold our home in NJ we actually had one guy who faked being a realtor. He set up an appointment thru our realtor, came, left a business card, and when we looked him up we found out he didn't have a realtor license. In today's world we trust nobody. We've put away valuables and such and when an appointment is scheduled we look up that person to make sure they are a licensed realtor.
