More of the same Monday

Good morning everyone. Not sure if I can sit another day! Going stir crazy! Ugh
We didn't do pasta last night Frank said no. Lol He made veggie burgers on the grill. They were from Trader Joes Pizza flavor. Very good. But Frank doesn't make any sides lol and it was just me and him. Rachel had a graduation party and Becca was at a friends.
My mom is coming over today. She is bringing lobster rolls. Some pictures from prom.

Good Morning All! Hoping everyone's day is great.

Your daughter is beautiful Laurie (both are) and her dress is so pretty ... Very nice pictures. Hope your ankle is feeling a little better. You're so lucky it didn't break but it hurts all the same.

Yesterday we went to Home Depot and got everything we needed for DH to build my tiered planter. A bit more expensive project than we thought and I still haven't bought soil. DH will start working it soon, weather permitting (on days it's not in the 90's or raining).

It's overcast and sprinkled rain here already. Weather forecast predicts it should clear up for the next few days. We'll see.

I grilled a steak for DH's dinner last night but I had leftovers from the night before. We had gone out for dinner and we both still had half our steaks left. Since it was really good meat, too good to put out for the opossum, I sliced the leftover steak, made a great vinaigrette, and served it atop a mixed green salad for me. I made a simple vinaigrette of Dijon mustard, red wine vinegar, olive oil, Italian herbs, onion and garlic powder, salt and pepper, and then a squirt of ketchup. I'm not a big ketchup fan but had seen it used in other salad dressing recipes and thought "oh God, yuk!" but because I kept seeing it I thought "hmmm, maybe I should try it". Did and it was excellent! Added just enough "wow" factor, now I'm hooked.

Kenpo later than out for something simple to eat. That's about it here.

Laurie, your pictures are great. The girls look so cute in their dresses. Lobster rolls sound great. How nice of your mom to bring them!

Linda, the salad would suit me too. Wayne is not a salad fancier, but I love them! Millers Grill has a chicken fiesta salad with greens, grilled chicken, candied pecans (I know, too much sugar), feta cheese, etc. -- to die for. We just pretend their are no extra calories!

I do dread the cost of garden soil for our raised bed garden! Each bed is 4 x 12 feet.

Neighbor stopped by yesterday. A couple who lived here years ago are stopping by in a couple weeks and would like to see the place. Guess I best start getting things in order!

    Hi to all everyone.

Great pics, Laurie! Rachel is so beautiful! A very nice looking couple indeed! I hope you are feeling better today. YUM! I would love a lobster roll!
Lol I still get the giggles about you growing dandelions, Linda. Especially when we have so many to get rid of! Your salad you had last night sounds delicious.
Karen, Could you get someone to deliver a truckload of soil to you instead of buying bags of soil? It is much cheaper. We can get everything delivered like that mulch, stone, and sand and whatnot. The salad you described at Millers Grill sounds great to me.
We will be having leftover pot roast from last night. Probably hot roast beef sandwiches.
Den is off today as it is our Victoria Day long weekend. There will be fireworks everywhere tonight. We will be working in the garden this afternoon. It is supposed to go up into the 80's which is fine with me.
    Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

Gorgeous prom pictures Laurie. Rachel looks like a movie star. :) LOL @ Frank not making any sides. Enjoy your lobster rolls tonight. I'm envious!

Projects always seem to be more expensive than first estimated don't you think Linda? It's very rare that they are less expensive. :) I didn't know possums ate meat, but then again, I know virtually nothing about possums. :) Your steak salad sounded scrumptious. I can see that a squirt of ketchup could give an added dimension, but then again, I'm a ketchup fan at the best of times. :) Have a good Kenpo class and a nice dinner out.

My Mom always wanted raised garden beds but never did it Karen.

Yum on leftover pot roast Joce. Have fun in the garden. Jim and I were thinking of digging up the veggie garden and planting but it is so covered in weeds and grass it'll take quite a bit of effort to get the soil turned over and clumps hacked apart. It's pretty hot out in the sunshine right now so I think we may leave it for another day and perhaps get to it first thing in the morning.

Have had a busy morning. Woke up to no power....yep...another squirrel blew the fuse in the transformer again by leaping from a tree on to the live hydro line, electrocuting himself and causing the fuse to blow. I called it in at 7:38 and the Hydro crew showed up about two hours later. Great response really. Was not nice to not have coffee first thing but it sure tasted good once we were able to brew a pot.

Made ham, cheese, onion and mushroom omelettes for breakfast after we had a lengthy Skype call with Benjamin. He looks great. Having some job stress but handling it well. He figures his current job will end the last part of June so hopefully can keep his ARC (Alien resident card) long enough to find a new position.

    Gonna make
Guy Fieris Chicken W Salsa Verde
for dinner this evening. Haven't thought about sides yet.

Hooked up with someone new on Ancestry.ca and they sent me a bunch of pictures last night of my Grandmother's step brother. I'm very excited to go check it all out.

    Have a great day everyone!

Joce, we will probably have the soil delivered - no desire to plow through opening a zillion bags of dirt! Ditto for the rocks to cover the bottom (a netting that helps deter weeds) and the fill dirt and then the top soil. Wayne has an idea of getting gravel with the tractor - quote "It would be a little work but we could bring it up from the creek" - ha ha! Banks have eroded so it is too high for safely excavating gravel....trees have grown in the few accessible places....but he will have to cogitate over it before he hopefully caves in to my suggestion of ordering it. Hopefully his buddy will either talk him out of it or check it out himself to ascertain how practical it is for get it from the creek bed. Initial fill dirt would be no problem - we have several places we can get it or use both that and some purchased stuff.

Janet, your dinner plans sound great; we are having venison backstrap for dinner-- will let it soak in salt water a few more minutes and then probably put it in a very slow oven with bay leaves, garlic, onion, and maybe oregano or ??? as a spice. Too late to try the crock pot. Cool on Skype session with Benjamin.

I guess I should do something constructive. We put the sun room back in a reasonable order and now the Herculean task of the living room beckons. Tomorrow we have dental appts. and chiropractor appts. - plus running around to look at sand and gravel places.

MAY go to Silver Dollar City for their Bluegrass Festival Wednesday....maybe. Depends on the weather. It is the last day we can go this season.

    Have a good day everyone.

My mom came we had lobster rolls. Then she took me to get an ice cream. My friend Maureen from running came by with an ice coffee. My friend Paul came by with tablecloths he made for my outdoor table. Lol I haven't been able to find the tablecloths with the zipper and the hole for the umbrella. Paul is always shopping so I had mentioned in his travels if he sees them let me know. He made it his mission searched high and low. Finally he just bought three tablecloths at Christmas tree shop and whipped out his sewing machine and put the hole and the zipper in himself.. Doesn't everyone have an umbrella on their table. Why would they stop carrying them? I used to get them at Home goods. I looked on Amazon they had very few and want $46.99 for ONE!!

Yipes on the 46.99 table cloth, Laurie! I bought a round table cloth (vynil) for an outside table from the Carol Wright catalog but it doesn't have a hole for the umbrella - hmmm!
Now you have me curious. So lobster rolls for lunch - an ice cream for dessert -- iced coffee for a picker-upper -- and even the tablecolths! Good day, right?!

I put a marinade over the venison and ditched the above herbs. Ha! We shall see how it turns out.

A.C. just wandered inside - he is captured for the rest of the day because he will fight with Geezer and it would not be fun. They detest each other on sight.

    See you later.
