Saturday Salutations!

I'm over my pity party. Fred is brain damaged and there is no changing that fact. The only thing I can change is my own reaction. So, I'm going to stiff-upper lip my way through his remaining days and do what I can and hope for the best. His doctors tell me that part of his brain that handles "motivation" is affected and there won't be any remarkable recovery.

Today is the day for the jump sight. I packing sandwiches and chips for our drive. I don't know about dinner, but a leftover salmon pattie with an over easy egg is a good breakfast. Have a great day. My heart will be in my throat all day, thinking of Jane and worrying while Liv leaps from that perfectly good plane.

    Hugs to all, Happy weekend.

Off to Angel Food Ministries this morning for my first box of food. They will get a good inspection to find out the quality. We'll play it by ear from there.

Outside or inside work is up in the air. Supposed to rain tonight or tomorrow.

Good luck on your Angel Food, Livia just left to go pick up our boxes for the month. I went ahead and got the 10 lbs. of chicken breast for 20.00. It comes in one bulk box and has to be repacked in smaller quantities. I should warn you to repack the food. A good deal of the frozen meats are not tightly sealed and you could have a bit of freezer burn if you don't rewrap some of the packaging. Also, word of warning, the top chop may look perfectly lean, but the one packed underneath could do with a good bit of trimming. The Senior dinners are the perfect portion for a luncheon meal and I appreciate the fact they have two veggie portions, not bad for 2.80 each.

That dijon cream sauce sounds wonderful for pork chops. I cooked some last week in a orange marmalade, mustard, tarragon and white wine glaze. They turned out very tender.

Whatever I pick, it will have to defrost for a day in the fridge while I search for sides. Guess it's more celery soup today.

    Posted by Noir.

I'll get it in the "IMI" group with review. On the cooling rack now. Fed mother a bowl of celery soup to cut her appetite so she wouldn't be a MOB (monkey on bread) and give the loaves time to cool.

Angel food has saved us for over a year. Check out the link. They will show you the churches in the area by looking up your zip code. It has expanded down here since the economy has been so bad. We now have 11 churches participating and a year ago there was one. I spend about 90.00 for the month and stretch it out to feed the three of us as long as I can. I have to pick up veggies to round out the food stuff in the box. This month included Shelf stable milk, a dozen eggs, a lb. of rice, red delicous apples, a lb. of ground beef, four big ground beef patties flavored with dijon, chicken breast on the bone, turkey tenders wrapped in bacon, four good sized pork chops, a family size macaroni and beef (banquet meals) peas and carrots, frozen corn, a pizza and usually some dessert, slice and bake cookies this month. (last month a huge pumpkin pie) for 30.00 The Senior meals are 3 oz. portions of a meat, two veggies, a starch and either a fruit cup or a cookie pack. Ten frozen meals for 28.00. I buy those for Fred to have for lunch (If he would fix them for himself, most times Liv will have to cook one for him and serve it to him).

Livia had the time of her life today....she loved the experience. We are fried to a crisp. Even with sunscreen we are burnt. Thank goodness for aloe. There was a small prayer service and Jane's ashes were scattered to the winds over Sky Dive Lane....in Zephyrhills. Olivia said it was the closest to Heaven and to her beloved Tyler she could possibly be and it was "unbelievably awesome." She wants to ski dive again, naturally. Fred sobbed quite a bit and he was quite moved over watching the divers. He showed more emotion there today than I've seen two years. I just kept praying she would land safely without breaking any bones. I know Jane was with her all the way down to earth and she is watching over her tenderly. Both Liv and Fred are sleeping in exhaustion from the excitement. I'm back on laundry duty. No clue what I'll feed these two when they wake up. Maybe that pizza we got today.

Good golly, that bread sounds wonderful...apples pecans and cheddar would be a great tasting bread. Toasted with fresh butter would be a meal in itself. I'm with Pat....where is that recipe?

Recipe I used is posted by Noir not Lor. It's in the "IMI" group now. Was expecting a more sweet taste with 1/2 cup sugar in the loaf but it has a nice even cinnamon apple flavor. Would probably go good with breakfast coffee or tea. And I'll try a slice with butter now.

Our Angel Food Box is a little different than yours Notyo. It's a mixture of some of the same and yours has some of the stuff for next months box. The bag of apples were rough handled. A lot of bruises below the skin. Glad I decided to make those loaves with apples.

Made the pizza for lunch. It was the quickest fastest thing to make. I'm not a fan of thin crust pizza. Ate it anyhow.

My mouth is watering reading about all your food/dinners. That's great Tina, that you have that help and hooray for Liv!
We worked in the yard for most of the day -nice here today - 67ยบ right now. I planted some cilantro from seeds (we'll see) cleaned out my strawberry patch, fertilized water lilies, weeded some, cleaned up patio from debris from shingling the deck. Pooped out. But it feels good to get something done.
Haven't decided on dinner yet, either ham or chicken teriyaki stir fry... Really wish I had a couple steaks to grill!

Hope you all had a great day!

good grief batman, that is a lot of yard work.....you deserve a big martini!! I'd vote stir fry. Neither of my sleeping beauties have budged yet......might just eat some peanut butter and crackers and call it dinner.

I'm saving up for a little bitty ham for next week. Liv won't eat it and Fred and I can only eat so much.

Definition of eternity: A whole ham and two people.

Haven't got a chance to read the whole thread. Still unpacking stuff. Won't worry about it all tonight. Have no idea what is for dinner and certainly not going to cook!

Sore from the whole thing but glad my kids got the experience...happy to be home. I really missed my mouse. haha

Glad you're back, Ang! Relax and have a drink! You can unpack tomorrow!

LOL Tina, just so happens I am enjoying a martini! Shhhh.... let them sleep and enjoy your peace and quiet.
Yeah, and you're right on the eternity equation, which is why I only buy the ham steaks (3-pack) at Costco. I did end up making a spicy chili/teriyaki chicken stir-fry with veggies over rice - Really good! Stuffed! Super easy too.
