A stunning performance by American Pharoah to win the Triple Crown.
Mix and match weather, patches of rain and moments of glaring sunshine.

Liv is sleeping in. She is whipped. 13 1/2 hour shift yesterday with allergies.

Still have a headache, maybe caffeine withdrawal?

    Good morning Tina:)

Yes, caffeine withdrawal can cause headaches! Hope you feel better soon..headaches are no fun:( Wow on Liv's long hours..good that she's getting some much needed sleep..
Rick just left to do a spring job for a contractor he knows..after the phone call last night for the springs, we put our GD down and a second later we heard what sounded like someone ran into the GD..we had a spring break as well..talk about your timing:) Rick R&R'ed 2 new springs in no time..I told him that it looks like he's done this before:) that's what he hears daily from customers:) haha

Dinner, dinner, what the heck to make for dinner? I need to do some grocery shopping big time, but my SUV has sprung a frickin power steering leak, everything has been replaced as far as PS goes..Rick found that seals are leaking or some _rap...so I shouldn't be driving it I guess until we get it fixed...he tried but it's hard when you don't have the correct tools..he said he needs some sort of a "puller"...I so want a new vehicle....

    Wishing everyone a splendid Sunday!

Hi Tina! Darn headache still, it could be caffeine. The over-counter migraine pills I take has caffeine in it! So I'm careful to only take them in the morning. Wow, 131/2 hours, poor Liv, I hope she gets some rest! Going out for dinner sounds like it would be nice Tina :)
Oh no Marie, what kind of SUV? If you had previous work on the PS than I suggest taking it back to them, they might replace the seals for you for free or at a discount. Most of their work should be guaranteed! Otherwise drive into a used car dealership and trade it in, lol ;) My husband might be able to give you some advice if he knows the type of SUV....he's a mechanic. :)
Hi Janet, yum, what a great hostess you are!
I still haven't made it to the store, accckk. Too much house cleaning and yard work yesterday, and it became a hot scorcher! We're expecting this heat for the next three days. I almost forgot I'm going out of town tomorrow and need to find a meal with leftovers or something quick and easy for Pete to make as I won't be home until 6pm or later. I'd better get shopping!
    Have a great day everyone!

    Hi Janet:)

Shona, we ARE going to call the mechanic who did the PS work tomorrow morning..it has been 3 years, but it should last longer than that..it's not covered under warranty I'm sure..if he's going to charge us full price, we'll take it to another shop..just saying:) We have always had him do our work and have spent many, many $$$ there, but for some reason his parts don't seem to last like they should..I had new brakes done and I swear 6 months later it needed new ones..it's not the way I drive either..so, I'm pretty well done with him...Rick has been friends with him for ages, but not me:) Actually Rick is a good mechanic, but these days he just doesn't have the time! And I know for a fact he just doesn't wanna work on our vehicles:) haha Oh yeah, it's a Chevrolet...
Let us know what you found that's a quick & easy dinner for Pete & the kids:) I'm all for quick & easy dinners!!!! have a great day Shona:)

Hi Marie, that's good you're taking it back, and if Rick knows a thing too hopefully he won't let this guy make you pay through the nose! Seals should last longer than 3 years! I hope he's not buying cheap parts on line, there are so many on-line part places ripping people off. He might not even know he's being duped, he might think he's just getting a deal. Pete will only buy from two major part dealerships in town and never orders parts from an on-line store. Pete left to walk the dogs so I'll ask him what he thinks when he's back. I understand about not fixing things, the last thing Pete wants to do is fix our cars, but he's good at maintenance!

This BBQ chicken pizza I made is really good, and super crazy easy!! I bought a pre-made dough that fell apart, so last minute Pete ran down to the store and got a premade crust! I think I'd do it with the pre-made crust next time too, plus you can get whole-wheat or different flavours and it only takes 5 minutes on the grill! I used a sweet and spicy bbq sauce. I am not a bbq sauce lover, but this pizza was really good! I also added red onion and red pepper to it and served with a light salad. I also used pre-cooked rotisserie chicken, so it doesn't get any easier! I can see making this with different ingredient's throughout the hot summer! http://allrecipes.com/recipe/barbeque-chicken-grilled-pizza/detail.aspx

Whew.....guests have headed back to Montreal. I'm spent. :) It was a lovely weekend though and they really enjoyed their visit so it was worth it and we did have a great visit.
We all watched the Game last night Tina and I was thrilled when Tampa pulled it out. Very cool on American Pharaoh alright! Wow on Liv's long shift. Poor her suffering with allergies. Heading out for dinner sounds great. I experienced caffeine withdrawal when I quit drinking coffee and pop when I got pregnant. Didn't last long but it sure did give me a headache!
Uh-oh on the garage door spring breaking Marie. Lucky you know someone who can fix that up for you. :) Giggle. Ugh on the power steering fluid leak. :(
Yum on the BBQ Chicken pizza Shona. I love all the ingredients.
    How's Mel today Karen?
Did you get your Spruce tree planted Joce?
Have lots of leftovers to clean up from dinner last night and lunch today so won't bother fixing anything for dinner. I'm beat. Jim went out to work on the new fence around the veggie garden. I could seriously go for a nap but won't as then I won't be able to sleep tonight.

Good morning all. I mean - good afternoon! Just got home from church and I am tired. Wayne is mowing the lawn.

Sounds like you had a great time with your company, Janet.

Mel is better but I may call just to see if he might have something lodged in the throat or in the stomach - if it was a bone it could poke his intestines or cause problems later. But he is eating well and even meows on occasion.

Kittens are fine. Holy terrors, usually.

Yes, our daughter called all excited about American Pharaoh winning the triple crown. His stud fee must have quadrupled after that! She said he was pulling away further at the end of the race.

Boo on GD parts...car parts...any parts! The guy who fixed our hot water heater at the other house said his parts were now made in Mexico and did not last long. He was unable to give the guarantees he used to. So I guess car parts are the same way, esp. if get them on the cheap. We have a mechanic who is only uses brand name parts, and / or we take the cars to the dealer where we got them, who doesn't use online parts either. Cars are a pain sometimes. If it is something Wayne can do he goes to O'Reilly or Napa, I don't recall which.

Yes, Tina, caffeine withdrawal can cause headaches, sometimes even migraines. I must have my coffee in the morning regardless. Hope Olivia feels better after a good sleep. Have a good time if you do go out. Wayne is now wrapped around Mauser's paws, so he is hinting they should stay inside --- NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! When they are older they can become outside cats. Barn kitties. Mouse chasing kitties.

I must go clean litter box and redo the kittens area so they don't leave so much of a mess. They are very messy for such tiny critters.

Marie, I just talked with Pete. He said you can take it to another place for a free estimate, (tell them you'll think about) and then see what your guy says. If he's really different than the first estimate then you can get a third opinion for the repair issue. But if they both say the same thing and your guy is really, really cheap then ask where he gets his parts. Pete said some parts are just made cheap, even some name brand replacements, and they have a hard time warranting some things too as it's not their fault the part broke. (They usually get a replacement from the manufacturer or build their own parts but this is transmissions he deals with!)
Oh and the puller tool is not expensive Pete said, to remove the steering box and replace it. Pete said after 3 years you might as well replace the whole thing with a new one or a re-built one. Re-sealing is not warranted and it will definitely leak again. And it's the same procedure for replacing the seal as replacing the whole thing! But the procedure can be a pain in the A, especially if you have to remove the pitman arm, or whatever that is, might be in the way?...Lol, I find it funny trying to do mechanic talk, I usually tune all that out when Pete's talks about it! lol ;)
Pete said once your mileage gets high then more and more things have to be fixed and replaced on a regular basis. When our vehicle's get over 120,000km (not sure what that is in mileage!) than we usually sell and replace with another used vehicle and we keep on like that because Pete knows more and more things cost $$$$ to fix, even for him at a discount on parts and free labour!
Hopefully it all works out for you Marie!! :)

Wow, Shona, great advice for Marie. (you did well translating Pete speak) I love bbq pizza.
I agree with Karen on boo on GD parts and car parts......and our aching body parts. Oh no on kitten territory infringement. Put Wayne on litter box duty and he will change his mind. LOL
Janet, you deserve a nap. Good thing you have bits and pieces for an easy peasy supper. The Lightning game had me "all over the chart" in emotions.
Marie, LOL on Rick fixing your garage so quick. see that is why he is so busy all the time.
No dinner out for me after all. Olivia stood me up to go out with Scottie. Their hours have not been compatible and she wanted to catch up. I took some medicine and have been asleep since noon. I'll be up all night. I've got more navy bean soup, but I think I'll just have more beet hummus, feta cheese, carrot sticks and pita chips. Still have the doggone headache. The battery is dead in my blood pressure cuff (9 volt) and it could be my bp is too high.

Well time to round up the dogs! They are barking their heads off at the roofers around the corner.

Shona, please tell Pete thanks for all of his great advice! Thanks to you as well, we appreciate it..I think we're going to take it to another mechanic who Rick has done work for in the past, and he seems to believe he's knowledgeable & fair..that's all I ask, get the job done, use quality parts that will last like they should:)

Janet, sounds like everyone had a wonderful evening! I'll BET your tired!

Tina, awww, I hope your NOT up all night! Yum on the red velvet cupcake....lol on all's fair since Liv didn't show up!!!

Karen, I do hope Mel is doing much better..Tippi is just fine after a day or 2 of being meowless (is this a word?) She speaks her mind in a most loud manner these days:)
I agree, boo on all parts!!! I just wish it weren't so hard to find parts ( and most everything for that matter) made in the USA!

    Hi laurie:)

We had grilled chicken and a mac salad for dinner..it sure got hot today..boo on Summer..LOL I like that word "boo"..kindof says it all:) Huh Karen!!!!

Sleep sweet all..talk to you tomorrow:)
