Thursday's Thoughts

    Good Morning Everyone.
I see Janet's White Bread recipe is the featured recipe today! Woot! Woot!

My bracioles came out pretty good. I enjoyed one for dinner last night with a little pasta and salad. The sauce needed to be 'doctored' up because the bracioles themselves didn't flavor it enough and I'll have to work on that for next time.
It's a beautiful day here. Will go to the gym later. Need to think of something to make for dinner tonight.

Morning Linda! Glad the Bracioles came out good, I'll have to get the recipe you use from you :).

Joce, I might have forgotten to mention we did get the guys insurance info off of the police report the next day and called them to get the ball rolling (which would have been last Thursday). We called them again yesterday since we hadn't heard anything and they said he's not answering their calls :(. Is he really going to make this difficult? They wouldn't give us a straight answer on what will happen if they can just never get ahold of him. We will be getting a lawyer if they can't reach him by next week. What a jerk. I saw his girlfriend/friend/wife that was in the vehicle with him at karate last night, and was tempted to say something, but the insurance lady has told me no comfrontation with them.

Anyway!! Chicken and dumplings were put on hold for tonight. We realized we had a ton of leftovers that needed to be eaten. I have made both flat and fluffy dumplings but 90% of the time make fluffy :)

Going to get the kids Easter stuff today. Unfortunately Walmart is the best place to go for that lol, even though I hate it :P. Have a good day everyone!

Very pleased your bracioles turned out well last night, Linda. Enjoy your gym time and whatever you decide to do for dinner.

I hope they get things all sorted out on your vehicle, Michelle. What a jerk is right! Good idea not to confront them. Maybe he thinks this will all go away if he ignores it? Good luck with it. Enjoy your chicken and dumplings tonight.

I hope everything went well with the house, Janet.

Hoping you and Wayne are both feeling good today, Karen.

I have a doctors appointment this afternoon for my shoulder. After that, I probably won't do much b/c it will be a Zoo in town all weekend. Things will be closed tomorrow and open Saturday and closed Sunday and for some reason, some people think things will be closed for a month or something the way they rush around. I am not sure what we are going to have for dinner yet.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

I hope that if you have to get an attorney to get done what needs to be done with the guy Michelle that he also then has to pay the attorney's fees. It's so unfair when people do something wrong and then are just able to walk away from it with no consequences. I hope he pays dearly just because he's a jerk.
Do the kids get all candy for Easter or other things too?
The recipe I used was based loosely on this one. My beef was already cut. I made a mix of seasoned breadcrumbs, parsley, garlic, grated cheese, and olive oil to hold it together. I made the mix to taste. http://www.thatjewcancook.com/?p=466

SP Joce. Isn't it the truth … stores closed for one day and you would think people think the apocalypse is coming. Good luck at the doctor.

I don't think things are closed here tomorrow Joce, but not sure. The kids and I will probably just hang out and relax anyway. I'm not even sure what I'm making for Easter yet. Michael is working nights and we'll only see him for a few hours in the middle of the day and the kids don't like ham (weird, I know) so I'm thinking of just grilling or roasting some chicken thighs and making homemade Mac and cheese. Won't have to make another crazy store run for that!!

I'm praying not to have to get an attorney Linda! It will be last resort. I usually get the kids a mixture of candy and small/cheap toys, but Bri is too old for toys so I got her a Starbucks gift card instead. I'm hoping she'll still want to hunt eggs! She thinks she's 30 years old lol. Thanks for the recipe, going to Pin it :)

need some more but I couldn’t fit it all in the car so will just go here in town tomorrow morning. Things are cheaper in Fort Frances and they also have a way better selection and better quality vegetables.

The house was in good shape. We still have propane in the tank. Jim got the water turned on and the hot water tank is working, as is the fridge. The only weird thing is a puddle of water on the basement concrete floor over by the drain hole. So weird. Have no clue what caused it. There are no leaky pipes anywhere near it.

Jim put together the Ikea chair we brought from Ottawa so we now both have a comfortable place to sit. We totally unloaded the car and put away the groceries. I did a bit of a quick house clean and made the bed. Pooped now.

Ran back in town and brought Mom out to the house for dinner. Just made Sausages with perogies and spinach on the side.

Thursday we’ll invite my Aunt Irene over for dinner. I might make Rouladen. I’m going to make a big pot of Cream of Chicken soup first thing in the morning for our lunch. I’ll run in town, grab Mom and bring her out to the house for the day. I want to do some baking for Easter.

Yum on Weiner Schnitzel for dinner last night Joce.

Hi Linda! No, our car doesn’t have a roof rack. Jim would have really liked one. Love that your DH showed you a picture of a recipe that he thinks looks yummy. 😊

Jim called his brother from my Mom’s tonight and his Dad was put in a private room so is out of emergency. Sounds like they are going to start dialysis by Friday. Jim’s sister June is going to fly to St. Catharines from Alaska. She’s a nurse so it kills her when she’s not here to oversee her Dad’s care.

It’s really spring like here. They had a high of 17C yesterday! Not a lot of snow around. Just in the woods or shady spots.

Chicken and dumplings sound wonderful Michelle.

Hi Karen! Yes, we turned the water off last fall and drained the pipes so we wouldn’t have problems if by chance the house did freeze. We need to make ourselves a check list so we remember what to do in the fall to turns things off and then again what to do when we come back to turn things on. 😊 LOL @ AC having a Lizard. I’d say that’s preferable to a mouse....you?

Nice on the new restaurant try Kimmer but sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy your meal fully. Yum on tacos.

I think I’ve been all over the map with my post so my apologies. I’m quite sleepy and will turn in soon. We’ve got the propane fireplace going in the living room and it’s most comfortable

Good afternoon and hello to all. Nice that the house was in good order Janet. Wonder what the water puddle was from? Will you have Easter dinner there? What a jerk Michelle. Hoping too you don't have to get an attorney and things work out. Big storms predicted here tomorrow Linda. Not sure if they will reach you down south but suppose to be starting by midday and pretty much all afternoon. But they are saying strong winds and possible tornados. After that it's followed by a "cold front" which will cool us down with little humidity so Easter weekend should be delightful!

Well since our friends called us unexpectedly to join them for dinner on Tuesday, will have my cheese night tonight. Yummers!

Hope all enjoy the rest of the day!

    Good evening everyone.
It has been a full day and there was not much time to sit down and chat.

Did the kids get their Easter stuff, Michelle? Yay on fluffy dumplings -- my fav.

Hi Joce. Nothing closes here on Good Friday so all is usual.

Hi Linda. Yes, they run to the store to get bread and milk if things are going to close.

Janet, you have indeed been busy! Water in the basement --- could it be a result of a leak into the basement? From the drain due to freezing / thawing? Hopefully it is nothing. Good thing you have two comfy places to sit! Enjoy your Aunt Irene and Mom's visits!
Lizards are better off outside -- they are too fast to catch and the cats go crazy. Mice are dirtier, although I don't care if they hang out in the great out of doors -- just stay out of my house. One may have been in last night because Fritz was tracking something all over the living room . Need to be sure the traps are set -- really don't want any running around.

    Hi Kimmer!

It was rainy all day. Cooler but no bad storms.

    See you later.
