Tour Guide Thursday!

Good Morning Everyone! Just getting in a quick post first thing. My cousin is out for a run (he's 71 so I'm impressed). He arrived last night around 6:30. We had appys out on the back deck and then dinner inside around 8. Turned out salmon is his very favourite meal so I lucked out. Did learn he doesn't like 'heat' though, so note for future. :) I served the Sriracha cream sauce on the side so was safe. :) He's a very pleasant guy and we're having a wonderful time exchanging stories.

Not sure what to make for dinner as it's going to depend on what we're doing today. Turns out there is yet another far flung cousin living in Kanata, where I used to work, and if he is available for a visit we'll do that and if not, we'll bring Jim (cousin's name is also Jim LOL) for a tour around Ottawa.

Beautiful morning out. Your hamburger patties sounded yummy last night Linda. Michelle has an awesome cheese stuffed burger recipe that I make on a regular basis.
    Bacon Gouda Patties
Now I see it I want to short list it. :)

Did you end up going to McDonald's Karen? :)

    Wishing everyone a great day!

    Good Morning All!

Sitting at the groomers waiting for LD, he is getting a haircut. Takes about an hour so I just wait. I have my iPad and am comfortable even though I woke up with a headache.

Yum on the linked burger recipe Janet. What's not to love about bacon and Gouda 👍
Happy to hear you're enjoying time with your visitor as well as he.

Not much else happening here. The thunder that was rumbling early eve last night never amounted to anything so it's still somewhat pleasant here. Warm but at least not horribly humid.

    Enjoy the day everyone!

Yes, Janet we did go to McDonalds. Sigh. I guess it is a GS thing - he chowed down. He was the only one who showed for swimming, so he had a one-on-one lesson to work on his butterfly stroke. His feet cramped (the wearing-the-fins exercise tends to do that) but otherwise he did well. We of course went to McD. Have him Friday but he is probably going to eat whatever I serve or go hungry until he gets home. I don't cater - well, maybe put some peanut butter out as a second choice but that is about as far as I go. Am a firm believer in the two choices for dinner method -- "Take it or Leave it." LOL.
Your visitor sounds quite pleasant. Hope you can connect with the other cousin for a visit.

Hi Linda. LD must look really nice after his grooming. Boo on no rain. We are also dry and HOT and miserable.

Yard needs mowing so after returning from Lowe's we may just do that in spite of the heat. Or at least part of the yard.

I balanced the checkbook - BOO! - I make it a point to do that every so often because our automatics are sometimes messed up.....one comes out the last day of the month, so credits it on the first open business day the next month. Then it may also come out the last day of that month, which if it is a business day means TWO withdrawals in the same month, which is to me somewhat confusing. I hate math and finance, Wayne is the finance person here.

Fritz and Wayne are dozing. I must go wake them up and see if he wants to go to Lowe's already. Going to get his birthday present / father's day present -- he wants some kind of ladder that can be step ladder or just a ladder. He can pick it out. Might stop my K-Mart to check on their sandals, I could use a pair and they carry the ugly, thick soled ones that I can wear without limping. Ha ha .

Rotary dinner for change of command is Monday night. GS is going also (he adores dressing up and feels quite grown up.) I bought a pair of not-super-comfy dressy sandals that have way too much bling for me, but what the heck, you only live once. They will go well with the blouse I picked out. GS has a shirt with bow tie that he thinks is wonderful, and is sure he will look like Nick Cannon.

Time to go wake the sleeping hubby and dozing dog. Have a nice day.

    Hi Karen.
The boy (LD) is looking and feeling good now that his hair has been trimmed.
Perhaps if GS participates in making meals with you he will "like" them more. Kids think they don't like something and often have no idea why but when they make it, it transforms into something else. Just a thought and I know the feeling of feeling like a short order cook except mine is because of DH.
Hope your weather breaks and the heat subsides somewhat ... it does suck the life out of you when it's so hot.

Hi! Wow, I hope when I'm 71 I will still be able to get in a good workout, that's impressive! Glad dinner went well and that you left the sriracha mayo on the side :) Lol at his name being Jim as well :P.

Hi Linda! Yes bacon and gouda go very well together. Glad LD enjoyed his haircut :)

Yup I agree with you on the take it or leave it for dinner. Both kids enjoy broccoli, cauliflower and carrots all raw so I always have those cut up if we are having something like zucchini. I hate to force them to eat veggies they hate so why not let them have broccoli if that's what they like? My favorite kind of gifts to get Michael are the ones he picks out himself :)

Doing exactly what we did Tuesday at the Y.I have to keep the little guy busy since his Sister isn't here to fight, uh um, play with him. Have to swing by Academy after to pick up a couple more supplies for softball. Dinner is leftovers. Wishing everyone a great day!

Broccoli is one veggie my GS loves so we often have that when he is here. He likes it steamed but will eat it raw also. I have found that Wayne eats things he is unaware of ingredients....he hates balsamic vinegar but I have added it to pasta etc and he liked it. Heh heh heh. Spaghetti, very basic sauce, no meatballs, is according to GS, awesome. He won't eat venison so we don't tell hm if it is venison and he loves the"ground beef" in it. Not at all devious am I?!

Went to get his present and they had a more expensive one with fewer features so may have to order it online to be delivered to the store. So we decided to soothe our frazzled nerves and pick up a Papa Murphy pizza to take home to bake.

I did pick up two comfy pair of sandals and a casual top at KMart. The shoes were buy one pair get one half off so I splurged. Tried on capris but they were so baggy I could not stand the way they looked. All the same size but each fit different!

Too beastly hot to go anywhere else. 90F but does feel much worse.

Just got word one of my cousins in Ohio died of a heart attack. He was younger than me by a few years. Will probably not be able to go to the funeral. Atone time I knew all 36 first cousins, 34 are still living.

As soon as Wayne picks up the pizza we are heading home to air conditioning! See you later.
