Wednesday's Wonderfulness!

Good Morning Everyone! It's a most wonderful Wednesday morning here in our Nation's Capital. Bright sunshiny day albeit a bit chilly at present. 7C/44F.

    I ended up making
    Salmon Bibimbap
for dinner last night and it was lovely. Bought a big piece of salmon at Costco yesterday and it'll do for three meals. Also picked up a Flank steak which I think I'll do up on the BBQ tonight along with some Edamame on the side.

Going to try do a bit of weeding and raking today. Have some dandelions that insist on coming up in the front flower beds.

Did you get a lot of rain Karen?

Wow on rain June through November Linda. That's kind of a lot! I don't know that I've ever tried Arctic Char. I like pretty much all type of fish though so.... I have also not tried the Bacardi Oakheart spiced rum. With a banana and ice cream this time. Sounds heavenly.

    Wishing everyone a fabulous day!

    Good Morning All!

Saw this in an email I got this morning and thought I'd link it for anyone who might have an interest. http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/strawberry_rhubarb_cobbler

Artic Char is a lot like salmon in texture but milder in taste. It's good but I prefer wild caught fish and DH bought farm raised so of course they noted they added color to the feed. I almost fell over with the fact he even bought it but he did and I had to cook it. No more bringing him along grocery shopping with me.
June thru November does bring a lot of rain and last year the average rain fall was more than usual. Our property backs up to a protected wooded area and last season it was filled with standing water. They graded the development so excess water from the ponds then fills the wooded preserve. Kinda freaky! Now you know too why we have mosquito problems.

Taking the little guy (dog) for a haircut this afternoon and took out BLSL Chix breasts for dinner. Will season them with a rub and hopefully be able to grill them, if not I can bake them in the counter top oven I use instead of turning on the big oven and making the house too hot. I have plenty of veggies and will make something and also am in the mood for a Caesar salad ... hmmm, maybe I'll just make Chix Caesar Salad.

Eesh on fish having colour added to the feed. Why? Shaking head. I'll have to see if our packages say that too. I also try to buy wild caught but sometimes it's hard to find or super expensive. Is Chix a restaurant name?

Jim has invited a friend of his and his girlfriend for dinner Friday night and then a high school chum of mine, her husband and daughter are coming for dinner Tuesday night. Guess I'd better start making up menus. :)

Morning! I know I've said this before but Salmon Bibimbap looks amazing Janet! Something I definitely plan on making when I get some salmon :)

Yum, that rhubarb recipe looks so good Linda, thanks for sharing! Oh man, I hear ya on the mosquito's, they can get so bad here. Grilled chicken sounds good to me!!

Well I was planning on getting out in the garden to rake up all the dead weeds but of course it's raining. Going to get to the gym for the third day in a row, woo hoo, then come home and do laundry can clean the wood and tile floors. Janet, I didn't realize how close that beef dip is to yours!! Well that's whats for dinner tonight served on french bread with some sauteed onions and pepper and cheese then melted and toasted up in the oven :) Wishing everyone a great day!!

I have had Wild caught Northern Canadian Artic Char and it is a bit like salmon, Linda It is also really good smoked. I doubt they would allow any colours or extra additives in any farmed fish here. We have a really good Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) which is incredibly efficient and on top of things. Bummer getting all that rain and mosquitos! I would be worried about catching something from them. Fortunately, we don't get the same kind here yet!
Wow on more guests for dinner, Janet! I don't know how you do it!
Yum! I love Beef Dip, Michelle!
I have a dentist appointment this afternoon. Just a cleaning and then I will do a few errands and maybe pick up dinner when I am out. It is supposed to get warmer and warmer all week. YEAH!
    Wishing everyone a great day!

    Chix is short for Chicken.
They added coloring to the food because Artic Char is naturally a pink to red fleshed fish (like salmon). I guess the "farm raised" variety isn't and they add color to the food so it colors the flesh so it's more characteristic of Artic Char. Yuk! Yuk! Yuk!
I bet smoked is good Joce but I don't have a smoker :( I'm almost afraid to make it good because DH will want more and I don't want color added to my fish.

The morning started with rain but it's since cleared up. Now it's just hot and humid. Made a pot of turkey chili for lunch and now DH is talking about going out to eat because LD's grooming appointment has now been pushed to 3:00 so by the time I get home and settled we'll be eating later than normal and because he's an early eater he'll be starving and won't want to wait. Works for me.

Have fun making up your dinner menus for your company Janet. Can't wait to hear what'll it be.

WooHoo on day 3 at the gym Michelle!

Bwahahahah @ Chix for chicken. I should have guessed but totally didn't. LOLOL. Thanks Linda. :) Just tell DH about the food colouring pellets and that you'd prefer just using wild caught, then he can be on the look out for that. :) Turkey chili sounds yummy. I'm just about to head into the garden. I think I'll make some perogies for our lunch. Pkgd. ones I bought from Costco but they're pretty good. Dinner out sounds like a perfect idea.
I'm squirrel obsessed pretty much. :)

Educating DH about food and healthcare falls on deaf ears. Many of debates/arguments because of, which is why I like to do the grocery shopping alone. His thoughts are it didn't kill his parents or him yet so continue on and all this non-sense about organic and GMOs is just that, nonsense. Uufffff.

Had a most lovely day. Swept out the back interlock of last years leaves and debris. Used Jim's 'claw' to remove all the dandelions in the front garden, weeded the front rockery (only one of my lavender plants from last year survived. boo.), swept the front interlock and planted petunias in the window box outside our bedroom window (I LOVE the smell of petunias wafting in)
The mosquitoes have arrived and are very hungry.
    It was a nice day.
