Weedy Wednesday!

Good Morning Everyone! Forgive me, but I couldn`t resist the Thread Title and I hope I don`t offend anyone. As I alluded to Joce yesterday, today Cannabis became legal in Canada. It`s still all up in the air, which I think is kind of backward. You`d think if they were going to legalize something that things would all be set in place beforehand. Rules regarding Pot use will be different in every province. Uruguay is the only other country that has legalized it. Our Prime Minister says that the move will cut the estimated 6 billion dollars pouring into the black market. 6 billion dollars!!! Wow.

So as of today, Canadians will be able to purchase cannabis legally for recreational use. Nova Scotia (population 940,00) will have 12 stores, British Columbia (population 4.6 million) will have one store. Here in Ontario initially it will only be sold online. Only purchases from officially recognized stores will be legal and you have to be of legal age to buy it.

The rules vary dramatically across the country where you can smoke it. In Ontario so far, you are allowed to smoke it anywhere you are allowed to smoke tobacco (so no smoking in restaurants or the workplace) but in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, public consumption will bring a fine.

On the whole I am not against legalized Marijuana. I equate it to alcohol. Never thought I`d see the day when it became legal though. Too funny. Maybe we`ll see some different brownie recipes showing up now. LOLOLOL.

So....it is a sunny morning here in Ottawa. Jim and I have been invited to go on a jaunt this afternoon with his third cousin once removed. LOLOLOL. He and Jim do major Ancestry work together so we`re going to go for a drive around the countryside to see old homesteads and also I think we get to visit a 103 yr. old lady in a Senior`s place to see if she can identify anyone in Jim`s Grandmother`s 1915 photo album. I think it`s going to be a lot of fun.

He and his wife have invited us for dinner afterwards so that will be nice. His wife is a great cook. We are bringing them a nice bottle of red wine and a sample pack of four balsamic vinegars and olive oils as a hostess gift.

    Wishing everyone a great day.

    Good Morning Everyone!

Our local on-line newspaper has an article about Canada now being the world's largest marijuana marketplace Janet. I agree and think if it's going to be legal the laws should be consistent and like the laws for alcohol (no driving high, where you can use it/buy it, etc). It's legal in the states but not all states and the laws vary widely. It's legal mostly for medicinal use, very few areas legalized it for recreational use.
Forgot to say so cool about Jim's uncle asking for food donations for charity instead of gifts!
In that the printer is wireless, software had to be loaded to our computers and the old software for the other removed plus they did a scan and removed accumulated temp files and other junk so they run better.
Enjoy dinner with the cousins. Nice hostess gift!

Plans today are the gym and a stop in the grocery store after. Will pick something up for dinner there instead of thawing something out. Probably will do burgers. Nothing much other than that for today.

Morning!! That is crazy that they legalized recreational pot smoking in Canada Janet!! I don't agree with it either, to just have people walking the streets smoking joints. I'd be jerking my kids away from that second hand high being blown near them. Ugh! Too cool on your little adventure today! Wow, 103 yrs. old...what a life and hopefully she can give you some info. Enjoy your dinner!

Glad you seem to have your new printer all set up Linda even though it sounds like it was a huge PIA to do so lol :)

Yesterday morning I had gotten a beef chuck roast in the crockpot topped with homemade BBQ sauce, it was delicious!! Had it with German Cole Slaw on buns. I know German doesn't really go with BBQ but the ingredients worked. I'll review later :)

Today Bri has a friend coming over for a few hours to start on a school project they are doing together. The kiddos are out of school for the rest of the week for something only Santa Fe schools do, "Fall Break". Last year was the first year for them to have it and they were out the whole week. This year they shortened it to only Wed-Fri out.

Dinner tonight will be leftover BBQ! It made a ton lol. Have a great day everyone!!

Great and very appropriate thread title today, Janet:) I am glad they are going slower at selling pot than I anticipated. Enjoy your day with Jim's cousin. I remember you saying before about her being such a good cook. Very nice hostess gifts. I am sure they will appreciate them For some reason I thought pot was also legal in the Netherlands like Amsterdam for years and years. I will have to check that out.

Glad all your computers are all set up and running, Linda. Enjoy your time at the gym and shopping.

Your beef in the crockpot sounds great as well as the German Cole Slaw, Michelle. Nice that Bri has someone to work on her school project with her.

Den had to go to work today for some important job contract he is responsible for, bummer:( We had pizza last night which was good to have in between phone calls wishing me Happy Birthday which was nice. We will probably have pork chops for dinner with new potatoes and steamed green beans.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Glad you got the printer all hooked up and all is running well Linda. Jim got our new router up and running yesterday with no problems so I`m pleased. It was such a pain before when it kept going on and off. Burgers sound yummy for dinner.

Your dinner last night sounded scrumptious Michelle. Nice you don`t have to cook tonight.

Good afternoon and hello to all. Just a quick hi here as I'm on the run again tonight. Had no time to pop in yesterday as we were meeting friends for another one of those wine pairing dinners and by the time we got done with work we really had to race to get cleaned up a bit and out the door. Then dealing with traffic at that time of the day is always fun! Tonight I have a lot on the agenda to get done and dinner will take more than usual prep work for a week night. Wow on the legal weed!!

    Happy Belated Birthday Joce!

Making some chicken breasts stuffed with fresh tomato, cheese and sun dried tomatoes. Pan fry first then finish in the oven. Will have that with mashed potatoes and with either corn or green beans. Haven't decided on that yet. Tomorrow night will be my cheese night since we missed it last night.

Hope all enjoy the rest of the day!
