What about this tree Wednesday?

Good Morning Everyone! Last week we were talking about putting up Christmas trees and some of you were saying you didn't anymore, or had to be careful because of pets. Shortly after I came across this photo of a tree designed for cat owners. Thought it was hilarious so wanted to share. :)

So what is everyone up to today? Jim and I are about to have breakfast. We are going to do a trip into town today. I want to go find my Mom a nightgown so I can mail off her Christmas parcel. Also need some stocking stuffer items for Jim.

We're thinking of going for Dim Sum in China Town and then visit the Chinese grocery store up the street "The Kowloon Market". Jim is going to cook again tonight and has chosen to make another Taiwanese dish called "Three Cup Chicken". He needs some fresh ginger and some Thai basil.

Sorry to hear your GS wasn't feeling very good last night Karen. Hope he's all better this morning.

    Wishing everyone a wonderful Wednesday!

    Good Morning Everyone!

LOL!! Janet on the Christmas tree posting ... LD would still lift his leg and weewee on it if it was in my house. Oooo on the "three cup chix" recipe. Sounds great!!

I am having a cup of cold brew and when finished I need to take my car in for general service. They will give me a loaner and on the way home I need to stop and pick up two cards (birthday and sympathy). Will probably go to the gym later in the afternoon. Not sure what we will be doing for dinner, depends on when the car is finished. If they finish up early I'll cook, if I get the call late in the day we will get something out.

I'm thinking of perhaps a percolator coffee pot for my friend. She likes stronger brewed coffee and I believe percolators do that. Any one have any advice on the subject?

YUM on the cup of cold brew Linda. Good luck with your car appointment and the gym if you end up going. My parents used to have a percolator years ago I think. I don't know anything about them although I do know you can buy electric ones now.

Morning!! Omg Janet that tree is hilarious!! Enjoy shopping and can't wait to hear how Jim's chicken turns out, I'll have to Google 3 cup chicken.

That's nice the car place is giving you a. Linda. I have never heard of a percolator before, hope you can get some info!

Have some running around to do today then back to home to stare at floor plans lol. The floor plan we are focused on is too big for us so we are seeing if this architect can cut it down for us quite a bit, but if he can't we need to start looking again :( Hopefully he can work something out for us!

Still deciding if we are going to have leftovers tonight or if I am going to cook. I don't know! Have a great day everyone :)

Good Morning Michelle! Have fun staring at floor plans. I would think the architect should be able to shave it down? Did you like him? Was he easy to work with and talk to?

Lol, the tree is too funny, Janet! Enjoy your day and I am envying your Dim Sum.

I would give your friend a French Press coffee maker, Linda. It makes strong brewed coffee and strong coffee depends on the type of coffee like Dark French Roast. I still have an electric percolator coffee pot but haven't used it in years.

I hope the architect can do what you want to be done with the floorplan, Michelle. I would have a really hard time picking a suitable floorplan for us I am sure.

I have been lurking b/c I have a lousy cold and cough and not up to doing much. I have gone out for appointments with a mask on so I don't spread this around. I will be finishing up my Christmas Cards this afternoon. Not sure what we are having for dinner but it will be easy to make for sure as I am not into cooking today.

I hope your cold gets better very soon Joce. Coughing is the worse! Are you taking anything to help?

I finally ordered a coffee pot for my friend. I ordered an 8 cup Hamilton Beach percolator. Suppose to make great "stronger" brewed coffee and it has a glass thing on the top so you see the color while it's perking away. If she doesn't like it she can return it to a nearby store. I believe she does use the darker roasts Joce it's the steep time that she doesn't care for from a drip. Coffee is such a personal thing with so many likes and dislikes. Hopefully I did good.

All percolators have that glass top so you can see the colour of the coffee, Linda. My Dad used one up until his dying day but it was a stove top one so you could lower the temp when it started to perk away. I have an espresso maker that is a stove top one as well and I should bring it out and make myself some espresso some day. I used to use it all the time. I have some fresh ginger, lemons and will make up a tea for my cough and add some honey to it as well. I am thinking that it is bronchitis though which I have had several times. If it gets worse I will call my doctor or go over to the ER.

Glad to see you Joce. I was worrying about you. :) Sorry to hear you have a bad cold. Rest up and feel better soon. We were in the LCBO earlier and the guy at the cash was visibly sick with a super bad cold. You could smell the cough medicine coming off of him. It's a shame people feel the need to show up for work when they'd be a lot better off at home and spare the poor people who come in contact with them! Sending you some virtual chicken noodle soup.

I had a really fun shop in town but didn't get everything I was hoping to. And oh my goodness you should see the line ups at Chapters ALREADY!!!! I went there hoping to pick up something sweet for my Aunt Rose for Christmas. Often times they have some 'different' things and always they have Godiva chocolate. But I couldn't see anything that really appealed to me. We decided not to go to Dim Sum as we'd been thinking of driving all the way down to China Town. So we went to "Little Euro Deli" and bought two of their sandwiches to bring home. They're SO good. While there I bought a jar of Polish mayo. They use it on their sandwiches and it's very yummy. You can tell the difference from regular Hellman's. I looked at the ingredients and it contains coriander, marjoram, juniper and caraway. No wonder it tastes unique. :) Then, I found some neat chocolates and desserts and chose a couple of things for my Aunt Rose. It'll be things she'd never find in the Rainy River area. This is one of them. It's so pretty.

Also at the Deli I came across a small box of chocolates called "Mozart balls". I almost laughed out loud. I don't know that Mozart would be amused at the naming of this confection. LOLOLOL.

I did find my Mom a cuddly nightgown in her favourite colour (light blue) and I got a bag of wine gums for Jim's stocking but didn't see anything else.

We went to the Chinese Grocery store in our area and Jim got his ingredients for dinner that he needed. I had fun.

SP Joce. Your tea sounds lovely and will make you feel better for a bit. Do call your Dr. if you aren't feeling a little better. When did it start?

I was picking up ingredients for a dessert I wanted to make for this Saturday as we are having friends over for dinner.
    https://www.lemontreedwelling.com/2015/03/baileys-chocolate-mousse.html
I thought I've seen in the past, small bags with Bailey's filled chocolates and I was going to buy some so I could put one on the top of each mousse before serving. The only ones I came across were a tin of them for $15 so I said "Forget that" and bought a 4 pk. of Lindor instead. If I bought the tin I'd eat the leftover ones and I sure as heck don't need that!!!! So I go to the grocery store and buy the whipping cream and then to the LCBO to pick up the smallest bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream I can find as the recipe calls for 1/2 cup. The smallest bottle of Bailey's was $16.45!!!!! Well forget that too. That adds up to be quite an expensive dessert! So...now I am on the search for an alternate dessert idea. Jim said I should make Creme Brulee again and I could use the Lindor chocolates on the top of that as well.

Wow, that is an expensive dessert, Janet. Fine, I suppose if you had Bailey's around the house and you picked up reasonably priced chocolate. You could totally make Creme Brulee and use the Lindor chocolate on top of that.

Chris my son is back with his friend with the huge yacht in the Caribbean. I hope he has a good time.

Hi everyone. I soooo tired lol. Long week and it’s only Wednesday!
My boss has these things he calls “meet ups”where other flippers, home rehab people are invited to network. Usually at a property we are rehabbing and he goes over the budget the plans how we found the property etc. last nights meeting was in East Boston from6-8. Yup he took a wrong turn in rush hour Boston traffic so I was left holding meeting since he didn’t get there until 7. Ey ey ey. But someone posted on our Facebook page that I did a good job. Then we went out for appetizers and drinks. I didn’t get home til after 11. And I had to be at a property at 8am that is about an hour away from my house. So yup tired.
I just ordered Christmas gifts for my nieces on Amazon. I didn’t want to get them anything bulky. My BIL is in the Navy and they are moving to Italy for 3 years. I got some Italian learning books and coloring books. And gift cards and games.

Tuesday night is my book club night. It is my turn to host. I think I mentioned that the host cooks a dinner and no one brings anything. So I am thinking of making. Egg rolls, fried rice that I got from Trader Joe’s and orange chicken from Trader Joe’s. I haven’t decided on a dessert yet. I saw this easy cream cheese cookie bar recipe. But one of the ladies has a dairy allergy. I think I made the kaluha cake last time.
    Any suggestions
Friday is my boss’s birthday so I am making him the Kailua cake it’s his favorite. I bought him A bottle of gin. He will be mad lol he doesn’t like a big deal made of his birthday and doesn’t think I should give him a gift.

How fun that Chris is back in the Caribbean with his friend Joce. How long is he there for? Nice to have friends like that. :)

Ugh on your late night and busy day at work Laurie! Sounds like you chose some nice things for your nieces. I love Amazon. How many people are in your Book Club? Sounds like a lot of fun. What book are you reading this time? An easy dessert that's pretty and light and wouldn't harm dairy allergy people is a mix of fresh blueberries, pomegranate seeds and a light drizzle of Lemoncello. Sweet of you to make a cake and get a present for your boss.

    Good evening!

Janet, if Queen Elizabeth ever comes to visit, the Bailey's dessert would be quite nice. Anyone else .... well, the cost is just a bit too much for my pocketbook. Ha ha. I am sure you will find a wonderful substitute that won't break the bank. Mozart balls are popular in Europe, I first saw them when Wayne was stationed in Germany..

Linda, I have not used a percolator in forever, if ever, but Wayne's sister had an electric one. I think I had a stovetop one that can be used camping out, but have never used it. I am sure your friend will like it as well as appreciate the thought you gave to the purchase. Fritz has not seen a tree inside so I don't know what he would do. We put ours in the sun room for that reason and to keep cats away.

Joce, hope your cold is better soon. Ginger and honey and lemon is supposed to great for colds. Have you taken echinacea?

Michelle, if the architect can't downsize, he might have a similar floor plan. Have not dealt with them so don't know how that is done. Have you thought about finishes yet?

Busy day. Wayne and his buddy are halfway through building the metal roof on the RV building. Since the wind will be bad and below freezing tomorrow they will wait until Friday to continue. So we are going to Springfield to do some Christmas shopping.
Temps are COLD, falling to 22F in the morning and 19F Friday morning. Yipes! We have a fire going in the wood stove, the first of the season.

Most of the electric percolator models don't have the glass knob Joce. Stove top does but I went with electric because we both have been know to walk away and forget things on the stove, yikes! I hope you don't have bronchitis, best probably to get to a doctor just to make sure.

Very much coolness finding stuff at the deli Janet. Love finding unique foodie stuff. Good too finding pjs for your mom. Baileys is expensive and the little bottles are not much of a bargain. But I bet that mousse is fabulous.

That is a busy schedule Laurie. Nice idea on the gifts for your nieces. What about sorbet for dessert?

Have fun shopping tomorrow Karen. Do you have lots to do?

We ate out because the car was ready for pickup at 5:00. Found out my service contact, along with his BIL run a farm animal rescue. They just got the 501(c)3 this August and already have a bunch of critters.
