Winter Hanging on Wednesday

  • MissouriFarmWife 6 years ago
It is -3 F, high should be 23F and expected low of -4 tonight, according to the weather Forecast online. The TV forecast has a low of 15 F. Sometimes I wonder.

Dr appt went well. She wants to schedule me for an MRI. To do it she has to tell the ins company I am "at deaths door." LOL! We shall see.

Wayne's buddy is supposed to be dropping by for coffee this morning some time. GS may have swim practice this evening for the first time since arctic temperatures decided to relocate to Missouri, but I hope they cancel again due to severe weather....can't see damp haired kids walking into the freezing cold after swimming. Tomorrow starts a warming trend.

Good Morning Karen! You're colder than Ottawa today! Wow! We're sitting at -12C/10F at the moment. Fun @ squeaky snow. Glad your Dr.'s appointment went well.

Jim's still snoozing and I just poured myself my first cup of coffee. There are Charlie Brown snowflakes coming down but I don't think they're supposed to go on for long. Jim and I are talking about going to see a Museum Exhibit in Almonte today and maybe grab lunch at the "Superior" restaurant. Jim also wants to go order his doors from Home Depot today for the pool room.

No clue what to make for dinner but maybe craving Chicken legs with hot sauce. :)

Watched the Movie "Battle of the Sexes" (the Billie Jean King movie). I remember that taking place when I was a kid. I think I was about 12 at the time. I didn't realize at the time what a good thing Billie Jean King did for women. She's quite a hero. She's 74 now.

Chicken fajitas sounded good Laurie. I should do that soon myself. Fun that you're getting a new car this summer and Rachel is getting yours. We may end up having to get a new one this year as well but it all depends on how long all our repairs from last year last. LOL! What kind of thing are you thinking of giving Becca so it's fair?

    Wishing everyone a great day!

    Good Morning Everyone!

That's cold Karen and it got me thinking about the band "Three Dog Night" (whose music I like) and how they came up with their name.
"The trio owes it to a girlfriend of one of them, actress June Fairchild. June kept it with singer Danny Hutton when he, along with two others, wanted to start a band.
She told Hutton that she had read an article about Australian Aboriginals who keep warm at night by sleeping beside their dogs.
If it's a bit chilly one dog close to your side is sufficient, if it is colder two come in, and a three dog night is when the temperature drops below freezing."

Happy to hear your doctor appointment went well and doesn't it just make you mad how the insurance companies want to deny everything and anything they can and the games that have to be played to get medical treatment/attention. One more cancelled swim practice won't hurt.

Did you get a better sleep last night Janet? I too remember Billie Jean and yes she was a "pioneer" in women's rights for sure.

Bundle up Kimmer it's suppose to get cold tonight. Woke up last night around 4:00 a.m. because our bedroom got uncomfortably cold and I had to turn the heat on.

Nice on the new car in the summer Laurie. Any ideas what you may want?

Morning! Lol, that's a big difference in lows in weather Karen, I never know what to believe with the weather people. Glad your appt. went okay, what was it for? I agree that swimming should be cancelled, crossing fingers it does!

Hi Janet! Fun on the museum, enjoy your day out! I'll have to look into that movie, sounds interesting!

The sun is out, but there is still ice on the ground. Kids got out of going to school AGAIN. Hopefully it will start back up tomorrow, I hate them missing so much school especially when they don't have to make it up. Bri is a straight A student but struggled SO much in Math after missing those 2 weeks after the hurricane.

Dinner will be Asian meatballs over rice. I plan on eating mine in lettuce wraps. That's about it, have a good day everyone!!

Glad your doctor appointment went well, Karen. Lol, I haven't heard squeaky snow in years b/c I am almost deaf:) I hope GS's swimming is canceled just in case.

Den cleaned the driveway before he went to work this morning, Janet and it looks like it will need to be done again. I will probably go out and do it so he doesn't need to do it again when he comes home from work. Hopefully, it won't be too hard to do. If it is I will come back in. Enjoy your jaunt to Almonte today. If you have hot turkey or hot chicken sandwich for lunch there would you really want chicken again for dinner tonight? Yes, Billie Jean King has been quite an inspiration to all women.

Did you pick up your new car yesterday or are you going to do that today, Linda? Sorry if you mentioned it yesterday I didn't read back yet.

No idea what we are having for dinner tonight. I will read back on yesterday's thread to see what I missed.

    Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

Going to get the car Friday Joce. My sales guy is not in today and tomorrow DH has a doctor appointment and I don't want to be out all day so Friday.
Be careful shoveling snow, don't overdo it and hurt your back.

I bet the kids are happy with school being cancelled. What level math is Bri doing now? Even though math was my favorite subject in college I struggled with the higher stuff but would go to the tutoring center and did well. It wasn't that I couldn't understand the math, it was the teacher, he was just awful and not explaining it well enough to be understood. Asian meatballs sound good.

Linda, I love the band name, and how they got it, cute! Bri is in Algebra. She is in Pre-AP classes so they are doing 8th courses instead of 7th. Her teacher does tutoring after school once a week, but by the time she started with her, she had already had some pretty bad grades and test grades. I warned her that she better let us know sooner when she is struggling. Luckily her grade had only went down to a high B on her report card and didn't effect her NHS either.

Hi Joce, so nice of you to shovel the driveway so Den doesn't have to again. Be careful!

That was a good story about Three Dog NIght Linda. I never knew that. I slept like a log last night but that's because Jim was congested and went to the guest room to sleep. LOL.

Fun that the kids got another day off school Michelle but indeed it's hard when they miss a lot.

We only had very light snow for about an hour this morning Joce so it didn't amount to anything. I could (and do) eat chicken for numerous meals in a row with no problem. LOVE chicken. Didn't get the Hot chicken at the Superior today though. Got a Cheeseburger platter instead and Jim got the soup and sandwich deal, a Toasted Western with a bowl of chicken noodle soup. As Linda said, don't hurt your back shovelling!!!

We got the new doors ordered so Jim's excited. It'll take about a month for them to come in. The Museum exhibit wasn't that great but.....
Lunch was nice. Just going to pick stuff from the fridge to eat later since we didn't have lunch 'til 3 p.m.

We offered to give Becca $1500 when she wanted to buy a new car. She has a 2001 Honda Civic that she paid $1800 for last year. But lol she doesn’t trust us she wants the cash when we give Rachel the car.
Tonight is leftovers. I just reheated everything waiting for frank to finish shoveling.
We didn’t do too bad in the snow dept but school was canceled. Frank and I both drove to work was an easy ride since I think most people opted to stay home and by the time I left work it had stopped snowing and was completely clear roads.
