    Wookey Hole Cave Aged Cheddar!
LOL what a wild name for cheese! It sounds like it could be a setting for A Star Trek Movie or something for Harry Potter!
Ford Farm's Wookey Hole Farmhouse Cheddar is cave-aged Cheddar matured in the Wookey Hole Caves in Somerset, England. The cheese is first created at their Dorset Cheese Farm using pasteurised cow’s milk and vegetarian rennet. Then, they wrap it in cloth and take it to heart of the caves where the cheese is matured at a constant temperature for up to six months.
This award-winning authentic handmade cheese is protected by PDO (Protected Designation of Origin), whereby it can be manufactured only in the counties of Dorset, Somerset, and Devon & Cornwall. Wookey Hole Farmhouse Cheddar is crumbly with earthy undertones and a distinctly nutty, tangy flavour.

We ended out having pork chops breaded in panko crumbs last night with mashed tators and steamed broccoli with hollandaise sauce. Tonight we will be having chicken something and I would like to try doing something with it in the Crock pot.

Tina, I hope you are getting some much needed rest. Please take extra good care of yourself! Sending very gentle HUGS))) Thinking of you and hoping everything went well yesterday.

It is bitterly cold here with a windchill of -28F BRR!

Morning Joce! Wookey Hole is a silly name! I love cheddar cheese and I think I would really like this one! Not sure if I've ever had aged cheddar though. You panko pork chops last night sounded delicious!

Yesterday my Sister and I went to the Chinese Market that I went to with my MIL, SIL and Aunt (In law) this past Summer. Picked up some red spinach, long beans, white sweet potatoes (Never had before) and a huge package of basil that was only 99 cents! Also got some dried mushrooms and think I am going to make http://nomnompaleo.com/post/105333542218/magic-mushroom-powder-diy-holiday-gift. Stopped by Fresh Foods as well and got some chicken leg quarters that I want to cook up tonight. Think I'm going to whip up some pesto with all the basil I got as well... maybe rub the chicken down with it and then bake. Have an ice cube tray I will store the leftover pesto in, to just pop out as I need in the future from the freezer :) Hope everyone has a great day!!

Aged cheddar cheese is quite common here, Michelle. I like a good Sharp Aged Cheddar Cheese. I have never seen a white sweet potato or red spinach? They sound really cool! I envy your great deal on basil! WOW! I saw that Magic Mushroom Powder recipe before. I have a few different mushroom powders I bought from a Gourmet Company online. I have used them a couple of times but, never noticed the flavour from them in anything I have made with them in it yet? Great idea to freeze your pesto like that!

    Wishing everyone a pleasant day1

    Hi Joce.

The aged cheddar cheese sounds like something I would like to try. I have no idea if it is available in MO! Or if the price would make it seem less interesting - LOL.

I guess we are having semi-bitter cold with wind chills of -13 F. It started out at 18 F this morning, then started dropping and the wind has picked up. Some schools even started late because of the cold weather. Our elderly barn cat is hanging out at the barn and only comes down a few times for water and to eat. She may be brought inside later today, although we did set up two "emergency cat shelter" carriers on the porch, filled with hay, so they can go there if the barn is temporarily hostile or occupied by raccoons or other wild creatures. So glad the horses water trough has an electric warmer in it so we don't have to chip ice.

Did not defrost the freezer - it was not as bad as we thought. I did remove a turkey to thaw and shifted some stuff to the refrig-freezer and reorganized, so we now have a shelf and a half ready for the pork. Even vacuumed and reclaimed the sun room. One of these days we will have roast turkey, whenever it is thawed enough to fix! It is in water in the sink now, but will transition to the refrigerator later this afternoon so I don't forget and leave it out all night - ha! NOT GOOD!

    Have a good day.

Here is the name of a really good Aged Cheddar you can buy in the US, Karen.

It is so common here in Canada we see Aged Sharp Cheddar everywhere. Glad you didn't have to go to the trouble of defrosting your freezer either! I still have a small turkey we will eventually have sometime as well. Maybe we will have it when Den is off on vacation in February? A good thing you have a water trough warmer for the horses. Chipping the ice would be a big PIA!

LOL! LOVE the thread title and the cheese story Joce! Wookey Hole. That's excellent. Your dinner last night sounded yummy. I LOVE aged cheddar too.
Never heard of red spinach or white sweet potatoes before Michelle. Very cool. Too funny I just discovered Nomnompaleo after you had already checked it out. Of allllll the many websites on the net eh! :) The people on the FB site were RAVING over the Magic Mushroom powder. I might give it a whirl myself.
That's great that you didn't have to defrost the freezer after all Karen. Yum on Roast Turkey. I didn't get enough at Christmas! I have a Mac Desktop but the laptop we use is an old HP which we are talking about replacing. I like Mac's but Jim's not used to them.
We've got both the pellet stove and the fireplace on. Sure nice we can hibernate and not have to head outside. Supposed to drop even lower as the day goes on and overnight.
I got down on the treadmill again this morning and then made Toasted Westerns for breakfast. Am hoping to make a Pumpkin Gruyere soup for lunch but haven't thought about dinner yet. Better get something thawing.

I pinned both of those, Janet thanks:) The soup sounds lovely. The only ingredient I am missing is the gruyere cheese:( I noticed in Foodsmith's newsletter, they had a blue cheese for people who weren't sure if they liked blue cheese or not. It sounded really good. I want to get some but, Den never shops at Foodsmith's, I will have to wait until I am allowed to drive again:(

    Hi all.

Joce - thanks for the URL. I will have to see if the cheese brands are sold anywhere close. Wayne likes the white cheddar because so much of the yellow has coloring in it, so I will have to look for that, also. We have had to cut back on cheese a bit, but still eat some and it is one of my favorite ingredients to jazz up soups, spaghetti, etc. Blue cheese - welllllll-------- not my favorite and Wayne won't eat it, but I'm game for anything new.

Janet, I gave my IMAC (desk top) to my daughter because I basically used the laptop. it is 8 years old and she still uses it and it is still going strong. I

I'm typing on my old MACBook at the moment - figured if I got the new one going I would never finish vacuuming and neatifying the sun room - LOL. I played with it last night and it will take some getting used to before I'm totally comfortable with it, but that will come in time. I have to read up on transferring documents -- I think you just attach a cord to both new and old laptops and away you go.

Wayne has a Toshiba laptop, and we got our daughter a Toshiba last year so she could take some classes on line. I just get frustrated because they are the 17 inch screens and the number pad to the right drives me up a wall. I keep looking for the G to be in the middle of the keyboard and it isn't there! Plus I love the MACs. They do take a little getting used to, though. No one ever accused me of being a techie - ha ha!

Supper will probably be leftover concocted meatloaf. Maybe a salad. Soup is on the stove for lunch - tomato basil (frozen from Schwann's -- I was lazy.)

The soup tasted horrid. Just blah. I'm in a grumpy mood today for some reason so set the pot aside and will think of what ingredients I should use to doctor it up tomorrow. Maybe add some carrots?
Cool on the blue cheese for people who aren't sure they like it Joce. :)
Bet your soup tasted way better than mine Karen. :)

Maybe if you added some curry to the soup it might help it or perk it up, Janet?

Hi Karen! Don't you love it when you have freezer room? Right now, I have more than usual but sometime in the next couple months it will be packed full with ground beef and pork sausage :) I had never seen red spinach until we went to this Chinese Market. I have heard of the white sweet potatoes though, I'm thinking Mr. Piggy (a GR member) used to talk about using them a lot.

Okay, Joce, so I have had aged cheddar lol! I love Kerrygold, I buy that in bulk at Sam's! They also make great butter, everything of there's is grass fed.

Janet, the chicken recipe your making tonight sounds delicious, Pinned it! So sorry the soup didn't turn out. Do you think it needs a little sweetness? I like Joce's idea of adding curry.

We ended up going down to Kemah to pick up some shrimp and salmon. I didn't notice until I got home but the guy completely butchered one of my salmon steaks. It looks like a bear got a hold of it. Not sure if I should complain or not, plus it would do no good, they barely speak English. I will probably just roast it and use it for salmon cakes or something. Easy fix! On the way back we stopped at a burger place called Tookies for lunch http://www.tookiesburgers.com/. They really have great burgers. I'm never going to get back to my good eating habits it seems. :( GRRR! Okay tomorrow for sure lol! Got my pesto made, it was one of the one's recently posted in the IMI, I'll review it this evening. Relaxing a bit before I make the mushroom salt. Can't wait to see how it turns out :)

The pumpkin thyme soup sounded great. Maybe if you added a bit of pumpkin pie spice to bring out the pumpkin flavor? I didn't look at the recipe so I don't know the ingredients, but I guess if it tastes blah, any "spicy" spice would improve it. If you have a Schwanns route nearby, their tomato basil soup is perfect. Wayne likes the loaded potato soup (not the actual name but that is what it is) but if I recall, it seemed a bit heavy for my taste.

So far the pork we are getting is not here. I thought she was coming late morning or noonish, but maybe not. Not going anywhere today, anyhow.

I found white cheddar at the commissary but don't recall the brand.

Pig was delivered - 70 lbs of homegrown, packaged pork. Ham, ribs, sausage, even LARD to render. A first for me. I will use the crockpot and try some soon, probably Friday because we have errands to run. Got to go - timer going.
