I just wanted to say how glad I am that you have thought this group up, what a great idea!

I've got some recipes I can add. I think ideas depend on the ages of the children... My son just turned 10 and is in the fifth grade. He actually enjoys showing off his 'unique food' like when I give him tofu-turkey wraps. Even something I thought was not a big deal and every kid had heard of was his ginger-doodles he makes ( or ginger snaps) he came back home and told me that the kids he was sitting with had never heard of them! how sad to me.

Since there is not much time for him to eat I try to give him finger type foods and a variety each day, like tortilla wraps, cut up apples, home made cookies, smaller sized bread for almond butter and jelly sandwiches. I also need more ideas so that is why I'm glad I found this group. To drink I get him rice milk in the single serving containers, as his tonsils swell when he drinks cows milk.

I use the pampered chef bread crust remover. My son is nine and does not care for bread crust. I will fill it with pbj or lunch meat. he also loves crunched up ramon noodles..dry with the seasoning..easy to put in a container and toss in a spoon. Our school does have a wonderful lunch program. Every thing is made from scratch and they even have their own vegetable garden. With all that said my boy is still a picky eater and really likes to bring a cold lunch. I am looking for ideas like the rest of you. I also like to put everything in sandwich bags rather then spend the extra $ on the allready prepared snacks/chips. We love the natrual white cheddar cheese puffs. They are not as bad as chips! A nice time saving tip for those hectic mornings is this...pack everything you can the night before..all dry stuff..and then the next day you can add your wrap or sandwich. He also has a fun base ball shape ice pack to keep anything that needs to be cold..okay Im rambling now so bye for now!! Michelle

I forgot to mention a really good lunch that my son enjoys.

It's a tuna salad with chopped red apples, so he gets his fruit and his protein all at once, and his good fats with the mayo I use. It has Omega 3 from plants in it.. Should go run downstairs and look but I'm too tired :) then you just cut a whole wheat pita in triangles..

Also a chicken wrap, with spinach and walnuts and grapes, and a dressing or again special mayo. Those are really really good.

    Hummus is always good.

That sounds like a great lunch idea. I'll have to try it at home first before I send it off to school in a lunch for them. They've never eaten them together.

One thing that I've try together is tuna and alfalfa sprouts in a pita pocket for them. They can get picky so it just depends. My kids get stuck in the rut of the usual pb&j or lunch meat.

They do like chicken wraps when I've used leftover chicken and shredded it up with lettuce, tomatoes and a little mayo and pepper.

When I go to the grocery store I have them look over what's good in the produce section for lunches and I find that's when they ask for quite a bit that's healthy.

If they don't like tuna you could try it with the canned chicken, just make sure it's the packed chicken that is just chicken. If you know what I mean. There is only one brand of Tuna at my grocery store that is just tuna, It's called Albacore, low sodium- and on the ingredients it lists water and tuna, every other can lists, broth and soy then tuna. Same with the packed Chicken.

Another good idea is deli roll ups. I like your chicken wraps, just recently I made my son a left over salmon pesto wrap, that is on my page if you wanted to look it up. But he is a weird kid, he also likes sardines mixed with avocados in pitas. Not weird just enjoys weird combos. Still though he won't touch an onion....
