We grew up in the boonies.. Like the Waltons...!!! They sold chocolate in huge chunks.. I just know it was better then...

We also did not have lots of money, so had a huge garden always... grew up on Butter beans... cornbread and chicken. And I still love that. And always cornbread stuffing..
My mother was from the south... and we were in Michigan when I grew up. The odd ducks in town till people found out that hillbilly food was good!

Zanna.. have you posted that stuffing recipe? My mother and grandma never measured.. so it was hit and miss for me to get it down pat.. I still don't think it is as good... but, sometimes it is the memory that is good! LOL

My mother never measured anything either. Never could do it as good.Things just dont taste as good as when you were a kid.
Meileen , I have tried kimchee(like it mild not hot),most of us in the states eat sour kraut made with cabbage like kimchee. Both is a I love it or I hate it thing. Maybe one day I will try Bulgogi, Kalbi, Lom Lomi Salmon and Lau Lau. I do love salmon.

JO JO BA , now you got me thinking about chocolate chip cookies.

I grew up in Nebraska and I miss, miss the Runza. It's like a bread pocket with ground beef and shredded cabbage w/ cheese, they sell them in a fast food chain only in NE. I tried to make them homemade but it just wasn't the same! Sure hate that. . . . .

I grew up in Montana, both my Mom and my Grandma never measured either. Grandma always made corn fritters and hard sauce, or beer pancakes (wonderful stuff)
Mom's was macaroni and cheese with sliced hotdogs, or diced spam. or German Potato Soup. or Tuna and noodle casserole
