This may be old news to a lot of you, but I just saw this.

One of our GR members, Polly Motzko, who started the group Easy But Darn Good, is planning to publish a cookbook using all the recipes in that group. I happened to notice a message she put on Kristopher's page regarding this. She says if you want appropriate acknowledgement in the book to contact her. First of all, this is a violation of the terms of service of the site. I don't think it will get to the point of being publsihed. However, you may want to contact her if you prefer for your recipes to not be published. Lord knows we don't have anyone watching out to be sure the terms of the website are being followed. LOL

Considering there are lots of recipes of the Neelys in that group, and from Taste of Home, I'm not sure how she went about that...

I had trouble getting to her on group recipes but did go to her wall on Facebook. and told her not to use my recipes!!!

I didn't know you could copyright a group! What could be benefited by doing that? And how can she copyright recipes that don't belong to her? Isn't that illegal? We have proof of when we posted our recipes because they are all time stamped.

Yes, Lillian, it's illegal. She needs permission. But, if you notice her post in the group, which was copied on to Kristopher's page, she apparently has gotten a copyright. At first I thought she was copyrighting the name of the group to use on her book, which is hers to use, she created that. BUT, when you read it, she says she is a fair person and would be happy to give credit if she was asked to. Whatever company gave her the copyright didn't do much investigation! I wouldn't have seen it, but, I went to Kristopher's page out of curiosity because of the housekeeping messages on the site in the last few days.

I am a very fair person and I realize that this work was compiled by many-almost 60 people it took to create-but in order to proceed with creating an ebook, Easy But Darn Good is now copyright protected.
