Oh my, had to join. I absolutely love tomatoes! Favorite part of summer is fresh off the vine tomatoes.
About the only way I don't like them is sun-dried..

I love tomatoes. I just wish I had a spot to grow them. I might try some container varieties this year.

Hey Bean I grow my tomatoes in 5 gallon buckets. I just buy a bag of potting soil and some tomato plants. Last year I didn't have any as I was sick at the best time to plant them but the year before I had 2 plants and we had plenty of tomatoes., :o)

I LOVE tomatoes too!! Year before last we had some great ones! Last year, not so much, but the weather was awful. Also, not sure what variety we put out the first year. Any suggestions? We usually have 2 or 3 of the large tomatoes, and one plant of cherry or grape tomatoes. Live in East TN. Thanks!

We do the same sparow, a couple of big tomatoes and this year for small we did sweet 100's.....Our neighbor told us about them and they are in my opinion, the best small tomato I have ever had.......Sweeter than a grape......:)

Can't wait for tomatoes! Love to eat them right out of my hand. We have plants in the yard but the animals love them too. May do them in large buckets on the deck this year,I do my herbs on the deck. Have to think about it!

Love the idea of the buckets..the dad here is a painter and we always have them around, I worry that I wouldn't be able to get them cleaned out enough...I had the thought maybe I could line them with plastic bags...any thoughts or suggestions on this?

Some of the big buckets I have had paint in them but I never thought about cleaning them out real good. My hubby just took the water hose and rinsed them out good. Of course they had been sitting there for a long time too. I also use the buckets that I buy 25 pounds of kitty litter in and we just rinse them out with the water hose too. This would be the only way I could grow any of my veggies. I can't really get out and dig very much and the guys around here don't have a lot of free time. So putting the potting soil in the buckets is just really easy for me.
