How to make it

  • place chicken,onions,celery,all the spices and olive oil,sir frequently for 5 minutes. save the juice of the crushed can of tomatoes and add the crushed parts only, cover pot simmer for 15 minutes
  • add tomato juice and 5 cups water and lentils. bring to boil and simmer for 35 minutes.. drain garbanzo beans and add to the cooking mixture,bring to boil and cook for 3 minutes,add vermicelli
  • and lemon juice. turn heat to low and cook till vermicelli is done
  • about 10 minutes.
  • ladle into soup dishes and garnish with chopped cilantro leaves
  • and little drizzle of extra virgin olive oil

    I have never had food from Morocco.. at least I don't think so. My brother lived there while in Navy. This looks wonderful. Will have to see if I can make a smaller batch of it. Thanks
