Ingredients
  • 2 cups flour
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/3 cups whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup minced crystallized ginger, use more if you like
  • Topping:
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease baking sheet; set aside.
  3. Into medium bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  4. In small bowl, combine ( gently beat ) cream; with ginger.
  5. Fold liquid into dry ingredients; knead briefly to form dough that clings together
  6. Shape dough into eight 3 1/2 by 1/2 inch rounds on prepared baking sheet.
  7. Brush tops liberally with melted butter and sprinkle heavily with brown sugar.
  8. Bake 12 to 14 minutes, or until golden brown around edges.
  9. Makes 8 scones.
  10. Notes:
  11. May also be formed into one large circle, cut into 8 wedges , but baking time would be increased
  12. Freeze leftovers, if there are any left!
  13. And if you don't like ginger, just sub dried cranberries, blueberries , apricots , cherries etc , etc.

No photo yet, although this recipe comes from my files and I don't take photos of all my stuff.

So if you make them, please post photo if you wish:)

i assure you these are delcious and you can also shape them into wedes too!!!

Otherwise when I make them next, I'll post them another time!


Since it was raining here in New England, I made these scones this a.m, and my hubby's comment: "oh these are heaven " after tasting one warm from the oven!


Can't wait to try these! I love scones!
