Ginger Cream Scones

- 2 cups flour shopping list
- 6 tablespoons sugar shopping list
- 1 tablespoon baking powder shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 1/3 cups whipping cream shopping list
- 1/4 cup minced crystallized ginger, use more if you like shopping list
- Topping: shopping list
- 1/3 cup melted butter shopping list
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease baking sheet; set aside.
- Into medium bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
- In small bowl, combine ( gently beat ) cream; with ginger.
- Fold liquid into dry ingredients; knead briefly to form dough that clings together
- Shape dough into eight 3 1/2 by 1/2 inch rounds on prepared baking sheet.
- Brush tops liberally with melted butter and sprinkle heavily with brown sugar.
- Bake 12 to 14 minutes, or until golden brown around edges.
- Makes 8 scones.
- Notes:
- May also be formed into one large circle, cut into 8 wedges , but baking time would be increased
- Freeze leftovers, if there are any left!
- And if you don't like ginger, just sub dried cranberries, blueberries , apricots , cherries etc , etc.
