How to make it

  • Cut the venison into 1 inch cubes and dip in lemon juice
  • Mix flour and chili powder in a flat dish and dredge the cubes
  • Heat the oil in a large iron skillet and brown the cubes on all sides
  • Add the wine and remaining spices
  • Cover with enough cold water to gently boil for about 30 minutes
  • Remove the bay leaves
  • Transfer the meat to a pie dish and put a pastry crust on top
  • Bake at 400 degrees for about 20 -25 minutes
