How to make it

  • 1)Preheat oven to 325
  • 2)Grease and lightly flour a 9” x 5”-inch loaf pan. Set aside.
  • 3)Soak date in the 1 ½ cups of boiling water with the margarine for 20 minutes.
  • 4)In a large bowl add eggs and sugar beat.
  • 5)Add the following ingredients one at a time mixing thoroughly, date mixture, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nuts and vanilla.
  • 6)Pour into the prepared loaf pan.
  • 7)Bake at 325 for approx. 1 hour, or until a tooth pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • 8)Cool in pan on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Turn out on wire rack to cool another 5 minutes.
  • 9)Ready to serve.

    Correction cut temp to 300 when using glass.

    Hi,
    On the pan I used it was Metal (Bakers Secrete), if using glass cut the temp. to 325 glass cooks faster.
