Ingredients
  • 2-1/4 sticks unsalted butter
  • 2 c sifted cake flour(not self-rising,sift before measuring)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 c packed light brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees with rack in middle. Butter and lightly flour 8-1/2x4-1/2" loaf pan
  2. Heat butter in 10" heavy skillet over med heat until milk solids on bottom are a dark chocolate brown.
  3. Transfer to shallow bowl and chill in freezer until just congeled,about 15 mins.
  4. Whisk together flour,baking powder and salt.
  5. Beat together brown butter and sugars with electric mixer until fluffy,about 2 mins. Add eggs1 at a time,beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. At low speed,mix in flour mixture until just incorporated
  6. Transfer batter to pan,smoothing top then rap on counter to settle batter.
  7. Bake till golden brown and a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 30 mins.in pan,then invert onto a reack and cool completely,right side up,1 hour.
