How to make it
- Orange Butter - Stir the grated peel of one orange and 2 tb orange juice into softened butter.
- Strawberry butter - Stir in 2 tbs strawberry jam or preserves. Alternately can blend in 1/2 cup mashed blended strawberries and 1 tbsp grated orange peel.
- Garlic butter - wonderful for seafood and breads - combine 1/2 cup softened butter 1 or 2 garlic cloves, minced and crushed
- Lemon-Pepper butter - Excellent on chicken, with pasta, and a variety of dishes. Combine 1/2 cup softened butter with tsp pepper and 1 tsp lemon juice.
- Honey Butter - Blend 1/2 cup honey with 1/2 cup softened butter. Delicious looking and tasting
- Apple Butter - Great especially on toast and cinnamon raisin toasts. Bring to boil 1 lb apples (cut and cored) and 1/2 cup water on stove, then simmer on very low until resembles applesauce, stirring every so often. Strain through sieve. Mix with 1 cup sugar (or 1/2 if you don't have a sweet tooth and want to cut the calories). Add 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg and cinnamon. May also add 1/2 tsp of clove
- Pumpkin Butter - Mix 29 oz can pumpkin puree with 3/4 cup apple juice, 1 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp cloves, and 1 tsp nutmeg. Bring to boil in pan. Reduce heat to low and simmer about 30 minutes, until thickened. Chill before serving.
- Blackberry Butter - 1/2 cup softened butter with 2 tsp blackberry jam
- Cheddar Butter spread - Mix 1/2 cup softened butter, 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce, and 1/4 tsp garlic salt. Blend through food processor or blender. Serve with warm bread.
