Apple Quark Sheet Cake

- For the yeast dough base shopping list
- 400 g flour shopping list
- 1 packet dry yeast shopping list
- 1 pinch salt shopping list
- 1 tablespoon sugar shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 50 g soft margarine shopping list
- 150 ml lukewarm milk shopping list
- For the topping: shopping list
- 1 to 1.5 kg of apples shopping list
- 750 g quark shopping list
- 150 g sugar shopping list
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar or 2 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 4 eggs shopping list
How to make it
- First combine flour with dry yeast, a pinch of salt and sugar in a bowl with a spoon.
- Add softened margarine, 1 egg , milk and beat with the electric hand mixer into a smooth dough to form a dough which leaves sides of the bowl and becomes a smooth ball of dough.
- Lift out the dough, sprinkle the bottom of the bowl with a little flour, put the dough back into the bowl and cover the dough with a moist cloth ,seal bowl in a large plastic bag.
- Keep bowl, covered in a warm place for a good 30 minutes.
- The dough volume should be doubled after, if not let rise a little longer maybe 20 more minutes or as needed so the dough has risen doubled
- In the meantime, core apples. peel cut in half, and quarter again, cutting into slices for the cake
- When the dough has doubled , punch down knead lightly again
- Line the cookie sheet ( with parchment paper )37 x 40 cm pan
- Roll out the dough to the size of the sheet and lay out.
- Let dough rest 15 to 20 minutes
- Meanwhile, prepare the cheese layer.
- Beat eggs, sugar, vanilla sugar in a mixing bowl until fluffy.
- Gradually stir in the quark to blend well
- Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the dough surface.
- Cover evenly with the the apple slices
- Preheat oven to 200 C.
- Place cake in the middle of the oven and bake for 45 minutes or tested done
- After cooling completely, cut the cake into pieces and enjoy it freshly baked.
- May be gently reheated the next day, very briefly, so then the cake will tastes like fresh. again
- This cake can freeze very well.
