Homemade Clam Chowder

- 2 slices bacon finely cut shopping list
- 1/4 cup minced white onion shopping list
- 2 tablespoons chopped celery shopping list
- 10 ounces canned clams (reserve liquid) shopping list
- 2 cups peeled and diced potatoes shopping list
- 1/2 cup hot water shopping list
- 1/4 cup dry vermouth shopping list
- 1-1/2 cups milk shopping list
- 2 tablespoons butter shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper shopping list
- 1/8 teaspoon white pepper shopping list
How to make it
- Sauté onion and celery until brown.
- Add liquid from clams, diced potatoes, water and vermouth.
- Simmer until potatoes are barely tender.
- Add clams, milk, butter, salt, cayenne pepper and white pepper. Bring to a boil stirring occasionally then serve hot.
