A dense intensely flavored orange cake. An alternative to fruit cake, keeps forever and tastes wonderful, especially topped with a dollop of custard sauce.

Absolutely...it was so good. I'm a sucker for orange and citrus of any kind. This never lasted long at the house and it made great gifts that were graciously "asked for" year after year. Mom always complained at the cost of pecans but she made it Mema's way despite the cost. Some traditions are just meant to be kept.
