  • Method
  • In a large bowl,mix the semolina, baking powder, sugar.
  • Add butter, oil, yogurt and blossom water, mix well (with hands, no machine please!) until smooth and well incorporated.
  • Add dry coconut at the very end.
  • ps: the dough should be a little solid but very moist. if not moist enough, add a little bit of milk.
  • Grease the baking dish little bit of margarine
  • Pour your basbousa dough and spread it evenly .Garnish it with nuts insert them partially in to the mixture.
  • Set the tray aside for 30mn.
  • Poke the basbousa with a fork a little everywhere and pour syrup. let stand for 15mn, serve!
  • Bake
  • Preheat oven to 350F.place the dish in the middle rack of the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes
  • (after 20m through baking, decrease temperature to 250F for the remaining 15mn. so not to get the top too dark.
  • The result should be golden brown.
