How to make it
- First you have to screw up... I mean conconct the coconut mixture. Add the chopped coconut, the sugars, cocoa powder, butter, extract and all but one of the eggs into a large mixing bowl and beat until blended, then add milk.
- Not sure if this had anything to do with the consistency, but you can bake it for a little while first, then mix it up and add the last egg, but you don't have to. If you're lazy you can just use it raw, but it helps if it's been refridgerated for at least 2 hours before using it in the bars.
- When you're ready, preheat the oven to 350F.
- Combine cake mix, butter, eggs, sugar, extracts and a teaspoon of salt to a mixing bowl and blend well. DO NOT add milk. It will look like brownie mix, that's good.
- In a greased and floured rectangle baking dish, spread the mixture evenly so it coats the entire bottom. It will be thin, that's okay.
- Bake at 350 F until done, 20-25 minutes, until cake tester or toothpick comes out clean. Remove from oven but don't turn it off or attempt to take the cake out of the pan.
- This is the tricky part... flatten coconut mixture in a thin layer over the cake without ripping the cake. This will involve getting your hands dirty. If you do it while the cake is still hot, the mixture will melt a bit, that's okay. Try to get a uniform layer over the fudge base, and not to leave any holes.
- (Then clean your hands, they'll be gooey) Stick the pan back into the oven for 10 minutes until your coconut layer has browned slightly at the edges.
- After that, use a spoon or spatula to spread a layer of marshmellow fluff over the whole mess. Then add a whole bunch of chocolate chips.
- Squeeze some chocolate syrup over the marshmellow. Get creative with the designs!
- Add whatever leftover coconut you may have over it and viola, you're done!
- For best results, stick the whole mess in the fridge to let it set. Cut into squares, serve and enjoy!
