Ingredients
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup cake flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 6 tablespoons (3/4) very soft butter
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • Sauce:
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 8 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • ¾ cup pecans
  • Filling:
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Directions
  1. Combine yeast and water into a large mixer or bowl and let stand for five minutes.Mix by hand or on low speed until blended.
  2. Mix in cake flour, sugar, salt, eggs, milk and vanilla.
  3. Add in flour and mix for about 1 minute or until dough comes together.
  4. Knead by hand for about 10 minutes or with dough hook on low to medium speed for about 5 to 7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic and no longer sticks to your hands or the bowl.
  5. Vigorously knead in the butter with hands or dough hook until completely incorporated and the dough is once again smooth. (Dough should be some-what sticky)
  6. Place the dough in a large buttered bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 1 hour and 30 min.
  7. Punch down the dough, knead briefly, and refrigerate, covered, until doubled again, 4 to 5 hours.
  8. Combine sauce mixture into a small saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in pecans. Pour the hot syrup into a buttered 13 x 9in. baking pan. Spread evenly.
  10. Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough into a 16 x 12in. rectangle. Brush the dough with melted butter. Combine filling mixture in small bowl and sprinkle over rolled out dough.
  11. Starting from the long side, roll up the dough as you would a jelly or cinnamon roll. Cut crosswise into 8 - 10 slices and put into pan with sauce. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  12. Pre-heat oven to 350 and bake sticky buns for 30 mins. When buns are finished, place a cookie sheet on top of pan and flip over. The gooey sauce should be on the top. Eat and enjoy!

I can see how those would melt in your mouth - the picture alone is making my mouth water. Greta post - thanks!

Love sticky buns...... these sound wonderful..

I just saw a Bobby Flay episode where he went up against a woman who made sticky buns - she won - and you're recipe reminds me of what she made. One difference is that she adds chopped pecans in the filling. I've GOT to try yours!

We love sticky buns in our house and I must try these, they look so stick and gooie and yum yum

Thanks
Janet

I was just about to post a very (very) similar recipe! These really are good! Great post, deserves a '5' for sure :)

I'd love to try and make these but I have one question; what do you mean in the recipe by 11/2 hours?
