Ingredients

How to make it

  • • Wash octopus thoroughly and cut into large bite size pieces saving the ink. You can cook the body and tentacles, discarding insides, eye and beak
  • • Soak octopus in lemon juice for 2 -3 hours, stirring occasionally
  • • Rinse octopus thoroughly in fresh water.
  • • Place fresh octopus in a medium pan over low heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until all the water from the octopus is gone. If using pre-cooked octopus add the ½ cup of water at the beginning and cook until gone
  • • Mix the ink (sugar if no ink) with the Peepee and add to the pan stirring octopus and Peepee to mix well
  • • Simmer until Peepee thickens slightly, stirring frequently, do not let Peepee boil or burn
  • Serve while hot with steamed Breadfruit, Taro cooked green banana or rice.

This is such an interesting recipe to me. I once had a mexican babysitter who would feed her family octopus. I wonder if this is a similar recipe to what she served? I'll have to give this a shot! Thank you for sharing!!
