How to make it

  • Brown the onion in the fat until golden brown, then add thyme and marjoram.
  • Stir in the bread cubes, add broth and bring to a boil.
  • After about 10 minutes, add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve with a small slice of bread in the hot soup.

    This is very good soup. The amount of broth (for trackwidow) is 1 and 3/4 cups.

    I'm curious how this would serve 4 with only 3/4c of broth. Not trying to pick nits, I just think there may be a typo here.

    We used to have this soup with rye bead cubes, but I prefer white bread cubes seasoned and made crisp in the oven.
