How to make it

  • add olive oil to warm saucepan
  • sweat onions in a large saucepan
  • add mince and bacon, season to taste
  • cook covered until done (occassionally adding water)
  • add canned tomatoes and tomatoe paste
  • add sugar (check tastes and add more sugar if required)
  • cook covered for 15 minutes stirring occassionally
  • stir in garlic, pepper and thyme
  • allow to simmer over low heat for 5 minutes
  • Boil pasta
  • spoon pasta onto hot plates, place mince mixture on top
  • cover with cheese, grill until cheese has melted
  • garnish with fresh parsley
  • serve immediately

    there's always new things to learn hey. I love this method of cooking. you can actually taste each flavour coming through on its own, yet combining gently.

    The ingredients aren't that shocking, although the bacon's a nice twist, but the method is interesting. Done that way you will get a more distinct flavor layer. Now why didn't I think of that? Thanks for the post. RJ
