Carnival Casserole

- 1 Pound lean ground beef shopping list
- 1/3 Cup Chopped onion shopping list
- 1/3 Cup Chopped green bell pepper shopping list
- 2 TB oil shopping list
- 3 - 12 Oz. Cans diced tomatoes shopping list
- 1 Can Campbells beef broth shopping list
- ½ Ts salt shopping list
- 1 Ts. chili powder shopping list
- ½ Ts ground cumin shopping list
- ¼ Ts. black pepper shopping list
- 1 Bay Leaf shopping list
- ½ Cup Karo syrup shopping list
- 4 TB cornstarch shopping list
- 3 Cups cooked macaroni (don't overcook) shopping list
- 1 ½ Cups Shredded cheddar cheese (Sharper the better) shopping list
How to make it
- Brown ground beef, drain fat well and set aside.
- In oil, saute onion and bell pepper until just soft.
- Drain tomatoes and set juice aside.
- Add tomatoes to onions and peppers and cook 10 minutes.
- Add beef and the next 7 ingredients and simmer about 20 minutes.
- Mix cornstarch with the reserved tomato juice.
- Add tomato juice mixture along with the cooked macs to the beef mixture.
- Bring just to simmer and pour into a 9 x 13 baking dish.
- Top with cheese and bake in a 350 degree oven until cheese is slightly brown on top.
