Ingredients

How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 F / 175 C
  • Prepare white sauce and set aside.
  • Cook and stir ground beef, onion, carrots in skillet over med. hi heat until beef is browned; about 10 minutes. Drain fat.
  • Mix in garlic, cabbage, and basil, cooking for about 2 minutes before adding white sauce, and heating through.
  • Pour beef mixture into two prepared 1 quart oven-able bowls (or one 2 quart baking dish).
  • Top meat with a layer of green beans.
  • Mix cheddar into prepared mashed potatoes, and spread on top of meat/green beans.
  • Optionally sprinkle with black pepper and spray lightly with cooking spray.
  • Bake in preheated oven utnil mashed potato layer has a golden crust...about 30 minutes.
  • Note A: 2 very generous servings/ or 4 less so. If you are serving with a salad and bread, you may get by with this being 4 servings.
  • Note B: When I say white sauce, I refer to the butter/flour/salt cooked with sudden addition of milk to make a thick sauce. There will surely be a simple white sauce recipe on here already. I opted for white sauce as opposed to a sodium dense can of creamed soup, but if you choose that route, it would work as a substitute.
