How to make it

  • soak pecans in bourbon for several hours for best flavor.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat butter, vanilla, and salt - should be fluffy. Slowly beat in sweetened condensed milk.

  • Form the dough into 1-inch balls, and roll each ball in sugar.
  • Place the finished bourbon balls on a cooling rack to finish setting up.
  • Melt CANDIQUIK according to directions on package, dip the bourbon balls and coat evenly, using either a spoon or toothpick. Allow to dry on wax paper.

I was making these for my friends birthday ant it failed :(( I don't know what I did wrong T_T The dough looked like a porridge, so I didn't even put them in a chocolate because it would be worthless... I am so disapoined now I don't have a present for my friend :(

You certainly could!...you could always try a flavored liqueur of your liking or some other liquor, (maybe kahlua or bailey's?)or go none alcoholic and sub with extra sweetened milk. And yes, you could use another chocolate instead of candiquik, but the candiquik melts down nice in order to dip these - with normal chocolate, you will have to make sure you don't scorch it or look for a melting chocolate (basically candiquik).
Good luck! Let me know how it turns out :)

These look so good. Can I replace bourbon with something else? :D Because I think we don't have it. And can I use simple chocolate instead of CANDIQUIK? I want to make these for my friend's birthday, thank you! :)
