Blackened Seasoning (for Fish, Chicken, Etc.)

I once found a recipe for blackened fish on a low fat cooking site. It was spicy and full of flavor. The best part was that my family just raved over it. We liked it so much that I multiplied the seasoning part of the recipe then put it into an empty parmesan container. Read more Now I just sprinkle or dust it over food, for kicks. I cannot scale the spiciness because we're all different, but I have trouble eating raw jalapenos so it's less spicy than that. Sorry I can't be more specific. I eliminated the salt and my family never even noticed! If you like salt, then a 1/2 cup of coarse salt would be the amount and use a 3 cup container. See less
Ingredients
- 3/4 c ground paprika shopping list
- 1/2 c garlic powder shopping list
- 1/2 c onion powder shopping list
- 1/4 c dried oregano shopping list
- 1/4 c dried thyme shopping list
- 2 1/2 tbs ground cayenne pepper shopping list
- 2 1/2 tbs ground black pepper shopping list
How to make it
- Combine all - very well - in a 2 1/2 cup container.
- Shake well before using.
- When using, sprinkle it generously over fish, chicken or meat.
