How to make it

  • Mix cake mix as directed. Pour into an oblong pan. Combine sugar, melted butter, and cream cheese. Pour this mixture over cake mix and stir with knife to cut into batter just a few swirls. Bake as directed on cake mix package.

    I believe this is what we in St. Louis call Gooey Butter Cake. Always a yummy hit. I've made it many times.
