Okay... finally got the chance to make this, steambeat. :) I was very intrigued by the ingredients and the history. :) I decided against the bundt cake cus of the grape thing... I made it in 3 small cake pans, because I had them. :) I used red grapes and the wine. I also increased the vanilla, and I'm glad I did.... the taste of which was heavily influenced by the wine, of course, yet it didn't taste LIKE wine. Much sweeter than I anticipated, too. :) I didn't even use all the sugar on top, instead, I topped the cakes with my own vanilla sugar in the last few minutes of baking. I think the only thing I'd do differently than I did, this time, is increase the salt a bit. I think it would sharpen the flavor up a touch. Very good, though, and I thank you for the recipe...not something I'd have created on my own! ;)...oh, by the way, my grapes still sank... not to the bottom, though, so maybe that was still "right"..didn't matter, they just didn't stay on top like I thought maybe there were meant to.

I actually have no clue, it doesn't say on the card. But how it was sliced it had to be a round, probably a springform. I'm guessing like a nine or ten incher.

The 15 minutes are only to let it set a bit so when you add the grapes they don't sink.

Wonderful sounding cake and story. Do you know what size pan she used? Was it a tube or round or 9x13??
