Cherry Pie Pizza

- Pastry for a double crust 9 inch pie shopping list
- 3 cups of pitted sour cherries( frozen or canned ) shopping list
- 8 oz cream cheese softened shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 1/3 cup chopped walnuts shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 1/3 cup sugar shopping list
- 2 tbs cornstarch shopping list
- pinch salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup juice from cherries shopping list
- 1 Tbs butter or margarine shopping list
- 1/4 tsp almond extract shopping list
How to make it
- Roll pastry to a 14 inch circle about 1/8 unch thick Place on a 12 inch pizza pan, turning up and fluting edges
- Prick all over with a fork
- Bake 350 for about 15 minutes and cool
- Drain cherries reserve juice
- Blend cream cheese with first amt of sugar
- Add eggs and beat well
- Pour this mixture onto the partially baked crust , top with nuts and return to oven and bake until cream cheese is set and crust browned about another 10 to 15 minutes
- Combine second amt of sugar with salt and cornstarch in a panAdd cherry juice and cook and stir over low heat till thickened
- Remove from heat and add butter and almond extract
- Spread over cheese layer in pan
- Cut into wedges to serve warm
- Top pieces with a dollop of whipped cream or ice cream if desired
