How to make it
- Using a large steamer pot set-up, pour beer and water into the bottom half. Add a few shakes of salt. Turn on heat source to high to begin steaming.
- Put steamer part on top of bottom. Add rinsed, live crabs to the steamer pot in layers. As each layer is complete, sprinkle liberally with Old Bay Seasoning, and salt and pepper. Complete your layers with seasoning.
- If using celery, toss pieces in now.
- Cover tightly and steam for at least 35-40 mins. If using more crabs, steam longer. Just be sure that all crabs are completely red in color before turnng the heat off.
- These crabs are delicious with plain drawn butter, or extra Old Bay for dipping.
- Be sure to have some wooden mallets and nut crackers on hand to pass around.
