Ingredients

How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Cut tofu block in half the long way
  • Place both halves on a cookie sheet sprayed with a little cooking oil
  • Mix egg yolk, sake or broth, sesame oil, miso, and sugar to make a paste
  • Spread this paste evenly on top of the tofu halves
  • (Spread on thickly or thinnly according to taste. A thick layer of this mixture is very rich and goes a long way).
  • Sprinkle with paprika or chili powder for color
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees, watch closely toward the end so that the miso mixture does not burn
  • Remove when done and serve immediately
  • Cut into cubes and serve as a snack or with rice or noodles as a meal
  • Enjoy with a lettuce or raw veggie salad dressed with a little olive oil and a splash of seasoned rice vinegar or lemon
