- 1 package firm tofu cut in half the long way shopping list
- 1 egg yolk beaten shopping list
- 2 tbl shiro (white) miso shopping list
- 1 tbl sake or broth shopping list
- 1/4 to 1/2 tbl sugar (optional) shopping list
- 1/8 tsp white pepper shopping list
- 1/2 drops sesame oil shopping list
- paprika of chili powder shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cut tofu block in half the long way
- Place both halves on a cookie sheet sprayed with a little cooking oil
- Mix egg yolk, sake or broth, sesame oil, miso, and sugar to make a paste
- Spread this paste evenly on top of the tofu halves
- (Spread on thickly or thinnly according to taste. A thick layer of this mixture is very rich and goes a long way).
- Sprinkle with paprika or chili powder for color
- Bake for 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees, watch closely toward the end so that the miso mixture does not burn
- Remove when done and serve immediately
- Cut into cubes and serve as a snack or with rice or noodles as a meal
- Enjoy with a lettuce or raw veggie salad dressed with a little olive oil and a splash of seasoned rice vinegar or lemon
