This is my great-grandmothers chess pie recipe.

Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1 Tbs cornmeal
- 1 Tbs flour
- 1 Tbs vinegar
- 3 Tsp vanilla
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 stick butter
Directions
- Cream butter and sugar together
- add eggs and beat in
- add vanilla, vinegar, flour and cornmeal; mix well
- Pour into unbaked pie shell
- Bake 45 min-1 hour @ 350 degrees

I tried baking this pie. It lists milk in the ingredients but not in the directions so I left it out. Pie is very dry is it because I left out the milk or because no butter was used, creamed sugar with tiny bit of solid Crisco. Please advise so I can make corrections.
